Hello,
I am not really a coder but a friend suggested that I use DigitalOcean as a server. It has a one-step installer for WordPress (thank goodness) but when I got into WordPress and tried to install the ModernStudio Theme I got the error message "The uploaded file exceeds the upload_max_filesize directive in php.ini." This is a really annoying message for your average Josephine to receive since I had to summon up all my nerve and courage (and cash) and wit to venture out even thus far into Techy Bloke territory, (using SSH practically gave me a heart attack) and was happily envisaging directing my energies to completely re-build my nice safe WordPress site before moving over the URL. I think it is Ubunto that limits the file size. My gut response is, sigh, can't somebody do something about this? specifically, perhaps you should be designing uploads that don't frighten DigitalOcean. Or Ubunto should'nd be such a scaredy cat. Anyway, do I have to now train myself to edit php or what? According to https://wordpress.org/support/topic/import-large-wordpress-xml-file?replies=6#post-721905 I have to bat my eyelids at the guys at DigitalOcean about this perhaps. (But being a feminist I don't use make up so if I bat my eyelids I will only look short sighted). I tried editing the php and it told me I didn't have the necessary permissions. Sigh. Any advice welcomed gratefully kind sirs and ladies.

PHP has a default size limit on file uploads of 2Mb. The easiest work around is to unzip the theme file and upload the entire directory to your wp-content/themes folder through FTP. Doing it this way prevents having to modify any files.
Have you contacted DigitalOcean's support for help changing the PHP ini file? They should be willing to help you.

Have you requested your free website audit yet?May 14, 2016 at 9:27 pm #185641DerekMemberI am using digital ocean with my current web hosting. What I did when I first moved over to them (the new web host) a year ago was contact the new webhost and just use there migration service so I didn't have to do this myself and followed there advice in which left zero downtime. I had 1 blog and 1 test blog moved over. Other blogs still on another web host that semi alive.
Don't get me wrong I know how to migrate forums and blogs to a new web host because I've did it myself but these days I don't want to, either the host provides this for free, or I'll pay whatever fee they are charging and tell them that limit any downtime to like nothing if possible. 🙂
