Hello there,
I've spent all days setting up the Prose theme on my blog http://www.computeradvice.info and think its great but I am having trouble adding a logo and a 468x60 advert to the header.
My logo is http://cdn.computeradvice.info/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/logo.png How do I use this in the header as there is no option for using a logo?
I am trying to get 5px padding above and below both the 468x60 ad and logo to keep the header nice and slim.
I am trying to get it to look something like this http://www.technobuzz.net/
If anyone can help me achieve this, I would be most grateful!
Thanks

MikeAugust 6, 2013 at 8:28 pm #54487AnitaKeymasterI see you have your ad in the header. Did you still need further assistance with this?

August 7, 2013 at 3:03 am #54513mikebofferMemberHi,
Yes please.
1 - I cant seem to get the header padding to be 5px above and below.
2 - Also, how do I add a logo without editing the heaper.php in genesis?
If someone can point me in the right direction, that would be great.
Thanks
August 7, 2013 at 8:35 am #54546codableMemberHi Mike,
1 - Just try to add the following code to the end of your style.css
#text-7 { padding-top: 5px; padding-bottom: 5px; }
or
#text-7 { margin-top: 5px; margin-bottom: 5px; }
Both should work. I hope. 😉
2 - You can add a logo in your WordPress backend. Just go to APPEARANCE >> HEADER. There you can choose and upload your logo. Just be sure that it fits in the title area. The measurements of your linked logo should be ok.
Then go to the end of the "Header" options an deselect the "Show header text with your image.". That should work.
August 7, 2013 at 8:37 am #54547AnitaKeymasterHe may have to use the CUSTOM CSS because Prose is a different beast than all the other Studiopress themes. The file structures are a bit different.

August 7, 2013 at 8:39 am #54549AnitaKeymasterYou might also want to consider using David Decker's Prose Extra Plugin - http://wordpress.org/plugins/genesis-prose-extras/. It has a lot of useful bells & whistles that I think you will like.

August 7, 2013 at 9:34 am #54568mikebofferMemberThanks for the help guys.
I've uploaded my logo as a full width header but the ad seems to be below it now...
I have set the header height to 60 as both my logo and ad as that. Why aren't they both properly aligned?
Thanks again.
August 7, 2013 at 9:36 am #54569mikebofferMemberAlso, the ad does not align flush the right...
August 7, 2013 at 9:48 am #54572AnitaKeymasterLook for this in your CSS:
#header .widget-area { float: right; padding: 40px 0 0; width: 480px; }
Change the 40px (top padding) to a lower number.

August 7, 2013 at 9:49 am #54573AnitaKeymasterAlso, in that same code - I see a width of 500px and not 480px as indicated in my code. Change it to 468 and it will flush right.

August 7, 2013 at 9:57 am #54576mikebofferMemberThank you Anitac! That's working great now.

August 7, 2013 at 10:17 am #54586mikebofferMemberSorry, just a couple more things.
The ad is still not quit flush to the right.
I am trying to get 5px 5px 5px 5px padding around the whole header to keep it neat and tidy (the bottom seems to have none).
Thanks again.
August 7, 2013 at 10:28 am #54591AnitaKeymasterYou need to adjust this:
The header itself is only 60px tall, so you need to increase that in order to give the header right widget area a bottom of 5px.
#header { background-color: #FFFFFF; height: 60px; max-width: 940px; }
I still see 480px in this code:
#header .widget-area { float: right; padding: 5px 0 0; width: 480px; }
Change that to 468 and it will move right.

August 7, 2013 at 11:12 am #54604mikebofferMemberI've increased the height to 70px for now and changed the left widget area width to 468px but its still not right. The ad is still under the header title area (400px wide).
ThanksAugust 7, 2013 at 11:27 am #54613AnitaKeymasterI don't know what's going on but my previous instruction at the top said to decrease the 40px padding. The padding is back showing up.
Are you modifying the code or just copying and pasting what I put in here?

August 7, 2013 at 11:43 am #54626mikebofferMemberSorry, that was me being stupid removing it...
Ive added this to the custom css
#header .widget-area {
float: right;
padding: 5px 0 0;
width: 468px;
}Seems to be working great now
Thanks again for your help.
