I would like to create one single footer the width of the entire content area – not divided into 3 footer widths. I haven’t been able to figure out how to make that happen. Any suggestions? I don’t have my Prose site online (I’m working with Instant WordPress on my desktop). Thanks!

Try this code snippet it will help you customize your entire footer section in your child themes
<?php
//* Do NOT include the opening php tag

//* Customize the entire footer
remove_action( ‘genesis_footer’, ‘genesis_do_footer’ );
add_action( ‘genesis_footer’, ‘custom_footer’ );
function custom_footer() {
?>

}
Hmmm… Thanks for the suggestion. I gave it a try. It creates a new footer area below the current one, but it loses all the footer formatting that I had set up in the Design Settings (font size and type, background color, borders, etc).

I’m a real newbie, which is why I chose Prose. I can do some coding (with assistance like yours), but I’m not up to dealing with a lot of it.

Is there another way to “remove” 2 of the 3 current footers, and let the remaining one expand to the full width and keep all the footer formatting?

Just remove the content from the footer widgets and add it to your function.php were you placed the snippet. It will allow you to customize your footer.
