    Is there a way to remove the loop on the home page where the blogs are posting and replace it with a widgeted area in the Education theme?

    you can add this to your home.php file to remove the loop remove_action( 'genesis_loop', 'genesis_do_loop' );

    Then you can add a widget area.

    Thanks Nick!  I removed the loop, added the widget area to my functions file.  I just get a blank white space on the home page now (I replaced the loop since the site is live).  I must not be adding the correct widgeted area because it doesn’t appear on the home page.  Do you have suggestions on how to get the new widgeted area to appear on the home page?  I just followed your tutorial :)

    add_action( ‘genesis_after_content_sidebar_wrap’, ‘child_after_content_ad_sidebar’ );
    /** Loads a new sidebar after the content */
    function child_after_content_ad_sidebar() {
    echo ‘<div class="after-content-ad">';
    dynamic_sidebar( ‘after-content-ad’ );
    echo ‘</div>';

    genesis_register_sidebar( array(
    ‘id’        =&gt; ‘after-content-ad’,
    ‘name’      =&gt; ‘After Content Ad’,
    ‘description’   =&gt; ‘This is a sidebar that goes after the content.’,
    ) );

    I also added the this to the style sheet..

    /* Ad Sidebar
    ———————————————————— */
    .after-content-ad {
    clear: both;
    margin: 0 auto;
    width: 728px;

    I’m trying to add it to this site:

    Thanks for any help, much appreciated!!

    what did the full home.php file look like with your edits?
