First, my disclaimer that I am NOT A PROGRAMMER, not at all... I am thrilled with wordpress, thrilled with studiopress, thrilled with agentpress because I have created a nice website for my husband's real estate company up and running, which I never believed possible. http://www.arcarahomes.com. When I get the neighborhoods section added this weekend I am having a party.
So, I apologize for maybe asking this in the wrong place, but I am so confused about who's on first. After reading about email marketing and rss feeds, I decided we are going straight to email marketing, starting from scratch. I signed up for mailchimp, installed and activated the Genesis e-news extended, and all that seems to be working-- I think you can now sign up successfully to be on my email list which has a whopping total of 20 right now. I am writing a lighthearted blog that I plan to post to about 2-3 times a month. Every time I post I want to send an email out that looks as much like the post as possible. Here's an example of my latest post-

So where do I go to learn how to create emails that look like the blog posts? I can go to mailchimp's help, wordpress help, but so far every topic I have found assumes the reader knows far more than I know. I don't even care if the emails go out automatically, I am mainly wondering about appearance-- how to best create emails with content from your blog. I know that's a basic question, but if anyone can help me find where to start I would appreciate it! Thanks in advance.
P.S. on a side note, this is really fun. If I did decide to learn CSS, html, etc... what is the best way to do that? Any suggestions? I think I would enjoy getting into it... it's the blindly groping around part that is stressful. 🙂

February 22, 2013 at 3:23 pm #22292redondorealtorMemberIn mailchimp you do the following;
1. Create an RSS campaign that feeds from your blog. When you are setting up the Campaign you will pick the list you are using. You also pick the days, time that you want the email to be sent. You can choose to send an email to your list every other week, or each time you post to the blog.
2. Design the template for the Campaign (you can pick one of their custom HTML emails and modify with your logo/header) that matches your website. Save the template, and use it when you setup the Campaing above.
You will have created a drip email campaign, that emails your posts to your selected list.
It's pretty easy once you get the hang of it. You may need Adobe elements, or a simple image creation program to create your logo. I use Elements all the time. $79 online.
Good luck!
