Hi all.
I am very confused. Please help.
I have purchased the Genesis Framework + Enterprise Pro Theme and downloaded both in compressed zip files to my desktop.
First confusion - Is this ‘enterprise pro theme’ a child theme? I wanted a child theme just in case I want to alter/change anything.
I have uploaded both of these to my WordPress and activated the ‘enterprise pro theme’ only.
My confusion from this point on is this –
Where do I find the child theme files if I need/want to make changes?
Do I need to do anything else to these zip files?
Do I need to access these zip files to name any files or to collate/join any files?
Do these zip files need to be placed anywhere else other than my desktop?
Do I need to place these zip files with my host (Hostgator)?
Do I now need to name the child theme or has that been done automatically during upload?Very confusing.
Cheers
Jonah

Yes enterprise pro is a child theme. Once you upload the two zip files(genesis and enterprise child theme) then you can place the zip files anywhere you like because you are done with them so just place them in a folder incase you need them again.
What kind of changes are you wanting to make? You can go to your theme options under Genesis in the left sidebar to basic configuration but if you need to edit the code you will need to use the editor under appearance.

Firstly I think I need to start again as I renamed the genesis.2.02 file on my desktop to genesis framework.2.02. and I believe I should not have done that.
I am not sure at this stage what changes I may or may not make. Who knows. Wanted to use a child theme just in case I do and then need to update as time goes on.
What did confuse me is this guidance given in the StudioPress tutorial guide-
"Please note that in order to use a child theme, you will also be required to have the Genesis parent theme installed in the wp-content/themes directory on your server".
Does this not mean that I need to add something to Hostgator?
Cheers

June 14, 2014 at 8:03 pm #109818jonahMemberSorry. Can you elaborate on 'installing the .zip file into your WordPress themes folder'?
Have I not done that already by activating it in WordPress or is this an additional action to be taken?
Do I not need to rename the enterprise pro file to 'genesis child theme' somewhere?
Cheers

Installing Genesis or a Child Theme Through the WordPress Dashboard
1) Log in WordPress with a account with Admin privileges
2) Log in to your WordPress dashboard and go to Appearance > Add New Themes.
3) Just below the headline, you will see a link that says “Upload” – click that.
4) Click the browse button and find the genesis.zip file from your local machine
5) Repeat the steps for your child themeYou can view instructions on how to configure your theme here:
