Hi. I’m new to themes and Genesis. I have the Genesis framework installed and working, with no child them, but I can’t get the featured image to display on the single post page. I can get it working on the blog home page, but not the single.

On the Genesis demo, there’s a featured image on the single, and I assumed it would just work by default. But it doesn’t. Am I missing something?

    Try this http://www.studiopress.com/forums/topic/move-featured-image/#post-80422

Always install a child theme for your custom coding otherwise you can use a plugin for your custom PHP code. http://www.studiopress.com/forums/topic/move-featured-image/#post-80422

Thanks Brad. I saw that in my search, but I don’t like any of the child themes I’ve seen. :-(

You should at least use the Sample child theme as a starting point.

That way, you won’t lose all your settings and configurations if you update the Genesis framework and still have a functional website until you find a child theme you like, or get inspired to build your own child theme. And there are some free ones out there if you want to play around.

AHA! it just clicked for me, thank you! I have, in fact, installed the sample theme, but I didn’t think of it as a theme, just as content. I think this will solve my problem. Thank you so much.
