My WordPress install is on a subdirectory and the simple social icons show up fine on that url however on the main website they show as boxes. I've seen this issue in other posts but can't figure out what I need to add to my .htaccess file.
I'm using Chrome version 39.0.2171.95
This is the subdirectory: http://purpleprodigy.purpleprodigy.com/
Thanks in advance

RoseJanuary 11, 2015 at 1:23 am #136984ChristophMemberI think you are referring to this
https://wordpress.org/support/topic/icons-not-showing-4?replies=5<files ~ ".(ttf|otf|eot|woff)$"> allow from all </files>
January 11, 2015 at 7:45 pm #137111tinkerbMemberThanks Christoph but I tried adding that code the other day and it didn't make any difference. Any other ideas where I'm going wrong?
Thanks
RoseJanuary 12, 2015 at 11:35 am #137205ChristophMemberHi Rose,
sorry that didnĀ“t work.
I just read this response from the plugin author
https://wordpress.org/support/topic/icons-not-showing-21?replies=10#post-6378826
which would mean the security rule was triggered by having www and non-www mixes... But doesn't really say how to fix that...This snippet was mentioned in https://wordpress.org/support/topic/icons-dont-work-in-firefox?replies=14#post-4488674
## Fix Simple Social Icons for Firefox ## <FilesMatch "\.(ttf|otf|eot|woff)$"> <IfModule mod_headers.c> Header set Access-Control-Allow-Origin "*" </IfModule> </FilesMatch>
Did you try that?
January 12, 2015 at 6:30 pm #137265tinkerbMemberThanks again Christof but I had also tried the Firefox fix code and that didn't work either.
I'm stumped as to what to do and am thinking I should just code the social icons myself as a last resort.
I appreciate you looking into this for me.
Thanks
RoseJanuary 12, 2015 at 8:01 pm #137268ChristophMemberHi Rose,
my only other idea is to open a support ticket at wordpress.org page of the plugin.
I hope you can get it to work.
January 12, 2015 at 9:54 pm #137287coralseaitMemberI've had this pop up a few times, and tbh I now use Font Awesome on all my projects (via Better Font Awesome Plugin) and use it instead of Simple Social Icons now and don't have any issues. The other benefit to using Font Awesome for the social icons is that you get a myriad of other very useful glyphicons along for the ride.
January 13, 2015 at 12:43 am #137296tinkerbMemberThanks for replying again Christof. I've given up on simple social icons and taken the advice above from coralseait and am using Font Awesome. I just have a layout issue to sort out but apart from that the icons are now all showing perfectly.
Thanks coralseait - really appreciate your input. This is a great solution.
January 14, 2015 at 10:52 pm #137510coralseaitMemberSure, no problem.
Do you need any help with the layout issue, or is it unrelated to social icons?
