I’m setting up a test site using Sixteen nine, and can’t seem to get the left sidebar with my menu to show up, like the demo theme. I’ve created a custom sidebar and custom menu, and dragged the custom menu widget over, but how do I tell the site to place that custom sidebar on the left side.

I know this must be super easy, but I can’t figure it out.

Sometimes it’s the simplest things that slow us down. Ugh….

You don’t need a custom sidebar. The left side of sixteen nine is a just a menu created and titled whatever you wish to call it in the Appearance > Menus section of your dashboard.

Once that menu is created, drag the Custom Menu widget into Header Right and be sure to select the menu that you created in the select menu dropdown. Save

    Hope this helps a bit.

I did that, but it shows up on the right, and I’m trying to get it on the left like the demo. How do I get it over there?

It sounds to me that perhaps your custom menu widget may have fallen from the Header Right section and into the Primary Sidebar section

I would remove everything from those widget areas and clear the cache if you’re running one.

Follow the steps as laid out in the instructions again

Thanks Robin, that did the trick! I guess I was caught off guard by “header right”–thanks so much for the quick response.
