With the move to sizing with rem, as per the article StudioPress links to on the matter, what is the logic with *not* setting the base font size to 62.5% so that 1.4rem = 14px, 2.4rem = 24px, etc.?
I can’t speak for the theme developers but many of the themes were developed before REM came to be used so widely and it still isn’t used that widely.
I presume StudioPress linking to an article on REM shows that they’re thinking about it and future themes may start using this system.
Also, the themes are used by many people who aren’t developers and px based themes are probably easier for less experienced developers / users to make small changes to.
