Hey all,
I just purchased the Executive theme, and wanted to set the homepage to use the responsive slider AND blog content below, but when I set the slider in the slider widget, the home page becomes static (slider only, or slider + other widgets). Actually, the same thing happens when I use featured posts in sliders... Is there no way to use the slider and blog content in this theme?
Also, unrelated, but is there an very easy way to reduce the article title font size, or do I need to change it in the code for each occurrence directly?
Thanks!

Code not displaying? grab it from Github.
You could also hook in a slider into the header on the home page only if you want to.
Please post the 2nd question as a separate post. Thanks
June 1, 2013 at 6:41 am #43450NotPatrickMemberThanks; I tried it, but after saving the whole site returns an error (CMS and site):
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_CONSTANT_ENCAPSED_STRING, expecting '(' in /homez.91/frenchsp/www/fr/blog/wp-content/themes/executive/functions.php on line 190
I tries copying the original functions.php, to no avail. Should I have removed the widget first? And more importantly, any idea how to fix it and get the admin page back? 🙂
June 1, 2013 at 6:48 am #43452NotPatrickMemberAh my bad, I must have messed something up, it's back to normal after trying to copy functions.php again.
I added you code back in and it doesn't display the slider though. Could if have something to do with the name of the slider? Not sure that would be why, but it's not called "home-slider". I tried replacing these instances of that name with "genesis-responsive-slider" which is the one I'm using, but it's still not displaying.
Also, adding the slider back as a widget does what it did before: shows the slider but no blog content.
June 1, 2013 at 7:01 am #43456Brad DaltonParticipantSorry, my mistake. I fixed the code. It had an apostrophe in the wrong place but I tested it and it works now.
June 1, 2013 at 7:03 am #43457NotPatrickMemberHmmm actually that second time I added it to the wrong file. When I add it to functions.php, it does what it did the first time: error message on CMS and site. :/

June 1, 2013 at 8:09 am #43462Brad DaltonParticipantJust tested the code again and it works.
If you want me to take a quick look at your code, please email me your login details.
June 3, 2013 at 11:37 am #43859NotPatrickMemberHey Brad, not sure where to reach you via email (can't find a "send private message" button. 🙂
I've created a fresh install for working on the there (figured maybe a plugin was conflicting with it, although I can't imagine how that would happen...)
Anyway, here's the site when I implement your code: http://frenchspin.com/f/. For some reason the initial slider is still being displayed, and a new one with a different design is on top (how did you change the designe by the way? I like parts of yours a bit better!) And the blog content loop still doesn't show up...
I'm also testing jwplayer stuff at the same time, and can't get the shortcode to display the player for some reason. I'm starting to pull my hair out here ; WordPress seems to have gotten a lot more complicated since I last built a site...

You can send me the details here [email protected]
I think you just need to pull the slider widget out of one of the widget areas.
You will need to populate the featured home widgets with the Genesis featured posts widgets to display posts thumbnails and/or post content excerpts on your homepage.
You could also create a new page, name it blog and select the blog page template from page attributes to create a custom blog page. Then add that page to your menu.
WordPress 3.6 is due out very soon and includes video player support in the core so there's no need to add JW Player
