I'm using Agency Pro for http://www.tracythomasphotography.com. I worked with my host, Network Solutions, and tweeked my php.ini file to no great improvement. Today, I purchased Accelerator and configured for New York. My DNS changes have propagated worldwide but I have not noticed any increase in speed. I should have benchmarked site speed before Accelerator, but I didn't. Through online site tests, my load speed stinks. Any help?

I feel the hesitation on the initial load of each page but maybe it's the large background photo that is loading. The Metro Pro also suffers from the same "lag" because of the large image background.
If you can set up W3 Total Cache, that may help for your non-registered users. It is a pain to set up properly but once done, it works well.
August 15, 2014 at 3:16 pm #119115rtMemberI was getting good speed with w3 but I decided to kill it to see if my year subscription to accelerator would be worth it. I may have to go back to w3. Thanks mealtog

Either way, the site loaded pretty fast for me (1.5 seconds or so), and most of that was waiting on the server initially. I see you can get a tiny of compression out of your images (9% reduction, according to Google Page Insights), but you'll see the most improvement from W3 Cache.
August 15, 2014 at 3:21 pm #119119rtMemberThanks Porter. Do you have any experience with Accelerator?
August 15, 2014 at 3:34 pm #119121rtMemberI was too quick to judge Accelerator. I'm seeing a great improvement over my testing from earlier this week!
August 15, 2014 at 3:46 pm #119123PorterParticipantAccelerator is the new service through StudioPress, correct? I'm interested in it, haven't looked at it much yet.
August 15, 2014 at 3:58 pm #119124rtMemberIt is StudioPress. So you do have w3 cache experience, right? How do i cache a page and still have a widget with "Recent Posts" be dynamic on a cached page? is that possible?
August 15, 2014 at 4:00 pm #119125rtMemberI haven't done a deep dive into w3, I'm sure it can be tweeked to do this...
August 16, 2014 at 2:20 pm #119247MealtogMemberFor the record, W3 is easy to install. Some would also say setup is easy too. This is if you set things up and only turn on page caching. And setting cache on disk gives minor speed advantages in my opinion especially on shared hosting. Setting cache into memory or virtual memory gives the best speed improvements. Yes there are lots of tutorials on how to set things up. Most tell you to turn everything on. In my experience, many releases of W3 sometimes wreaks havoc with the enhanced caching like browser caching, minify etc... All of these are good, but only if it does not cause issues. Many users even on this board has dropped W3 or disabled portions of it due to these on-going issues.
W3 is actually good for not only speeding up page loads, but it alleviates spikes in traffic, especially if you load cache into memory and not the defaulted setting of disk.
Hope that helps.
