does anyone know a great social media plugin? I know there are lots and I have tried a few but dont really like it…What I want is when I post a blog post on the site for it to automatically be distributed to all my social media (FB, Instagram, Twitter, and Pinterest).

    thanks so much.

I think Social by Alex King is brilliant for automatically broadcasting new content, but it does not cover all the SM you list.

There’s a social sharing tool within Jetpack, if you have that loaded on your site.

Is it good to have a single plugin handle all of that? It seems to me that if an update broke the plugin, it would cripple your communication with all your social sites at the same time.

I use WP to Twitter to automatically post items to Twitter, and what I like most is that you can set up a template for default Tweets, or craft a custom Tweet for a post, the same way you’d create a manual excerpt. Very handy and very flexible.

WPMU has a plugin for Facebook, and a separate plugin for Google+, but I’m not familiar with anything like that for Instagram or Pinterest.

Pinterest still does not have an API so I would be fairly surprised to see a useful automatic posting tool for Pinterest accounts until their API is released.

I have used Next Scripts: Social Networks Auto Poster on quite a few sites and it has worked well.
You can add Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Pinterest, LinkedIn, Tumblr, Blogger/Blogspot, Delicious, etc accounts.
