    I placed a custom banner at the top of my blog pages, specifically by putting a background img at the top of the single post CSS and also placed the same image on the blog page template. the problem is that I had to put a big margin on the single post so the text started after the pic. On the blog page this translates to a big white space before the first post title. I tried using css and a negative margin on the blog-page to pull that baby back up, but to no avail. Can anyone come up with a fix, or a better solution for the secondary banner on these pages?

    In fact I’m having trouble styling that area at all!

    Thanks for any help… Judy

    Judy, it would really help the rest of us offer suggestions if you would post a link to the site you’re having trouble with each time you ask a question.

    It looks like you’ve pulled a separate page’s content into the top of your blog page template. It’s a side issue. But one that is complicating what you are doing.

    In your stylesheet you have this at line 840:
    [css].post h1,
    .post h2,
    .post h3 {
    margin: 285px 0 0 35px;
    }[/css]

    That’s putting a huge top margin on all of your headings. It means that if you use a heading inside a post it will have a huge top margine as well.

    You can change that to something like this instead so that it selects only the entry titles on your single posts and not the rest of your heading tags:
    [css].single-post .entry-title {
    margin: 285px 0 0 35px;
    }[/css]

    OMG! How did I miss that?  :)

    That fixed it. My weekend just got a lot better. Thanks so much!
