    Hi,

I have a test site where I removed the meta data from the post excerpts displayed on the home page. Here is the test site set up how I want it: http://www.theamericantraveler.net

Yesterday I moved the theme files and customizations over to the official site. Everything went well except now the meta data has returned on the post excerpts on the home page. Here is the new site were the meta data is now showing in the homepage post exerpts: http://www.smittenbybritain.com

I’m stumped as to why the customization did not transfer over and I’ve used Firebug for the last two hours to trouble shoot and still cannot get it resolved. Trouble is I made this change over a month ago so I have plum forgotten what I did.

    Any help appreciated.

    Thanks,

Did you remove it with a plugin? If you didn’t add the plugin to the new site, that may be why you’re having issues.

Here are the StudioPress code snippets for the post meta: (link)

No, not a plug-in. I did it by editing some code but for gosh sakes I can’t remember where. And as I said, I copied the theme files and customized files (in fact the entire wp-content folder) from the test site over to the new one. I’m still working on it and completely stumped. Can’t believe I made a customization and now can’t remember how I did it. :-(

If you copied all the files over completely, and didn’t do it via plugin, the only other thing I can think of is that you added it into the Footer or Header scripts (which really wouldn’t make sense…)

Maybe go through each file in your theme’s folder to look for differences. I like this tool to compare two files: http://www.diffchecker.com/

One thing I will point out is, the change I made only changed the meta data on the home page excerpts and did not remove the meta data from the top of the post itself (on the test site.) When you open the post, you can see the meta data under the title and the tags are still appearing in the footer.

Using the tool you suggested Susan, I compared both the functions.php file and style.css files of both sites and they are identical. I don’t think I would have done any customizations to the Genesis theme since that’s a no-no but just in case I did, I copied the Genesis folder from the test site to the new site and now changes took place.

That should read “no changes took place.” On to more troubleshooting.

Just wanted to let you know I resolved the issue. Wasn’t coding at all but the Genesis Featured post widget that I completely forgot about (that’s the trouble with letting too much time lapse between testing customizations and actually implementing them.)

The Genesis Featured Post Widget needed to be placed in the Home Top widget.

Happy for you to resolve this thread.

    Thanks again for you help.
