    Two part question:

    (1) Is there a built-in way (native to Genesis / Studiopress themes) to have a block quote with some fancy “quotation mark” icon attached (like the b-quote shortcode attached to this forum)?

    (2) Can someone recommend a good plugin for providing testimonials on a page by page and post by post basis? I’d like to be able to rotate some testimonial quotes in a page- and post-specific way. I’ve found some good free ones (e.g. synved wordpress shortcodes), but I haven’t found anything yet that has real sizzle. Curious what the Studiopress gang is using. Thanks.

    (1) Most Genesis child themes have styling for block quotes with the large quotation mark image built in. If yours doesn’t, let me know what child theme you’re using and I’ll try to help you add some CSS.

    (2) One of my clients is using the Testimonials Widget plugin with different widget areas for different post categories and pages. It wasn’t amazing out of the box but some styling made it look pretty nice. There are also several testimonial sliders that might fit what you’re looking for.

Could you please point out how I activate the built-in styling for block quotes with the large quotation mark?
FYI: I’m using the Executive Pro theme.

With Executive Pro, all you need to do is use the block quote button in your post/page editor. It should look just like this example from the theme demo: http://demo.studiopress.com/executive/blockquote/

We use the GC Testimonials plugin

    http://wordpress.org/plugins/gc-testimonials/

which works quite well with Genesis child themes. See our page:

Very easy to maintain. I recommend the plugin.

For years, I used Quotes Collection, but a few things have popped up in a few recent updates, (the random quotes widget stopped working), and I went looking around for other options.

I like Testimonials Widget, but having a huge Paypal donation button glaring at me from the Plugins list really bugs me :) I’ve also tried Simple Testimonials, but something in its behavior changed in the last update, so I dropped that one.

I’m currently trying out Easy Testimonials on a couple of sites, and so far, I like it.
