Hi WP people- I’d be grateful for your advice!

I am trying to find a theme for my WP blog that has these basic features:

    1. A menu on the home page that leads to 5-6 different sections.

    2. A static home page, so that when visitors arrive they see a full summary home page and NOT a recent blog post. In other words, perhaps the feature would be a “thumb-tacked” entry that remains on the home page.

    3. I do not want a big photo on the home page. I want mostly text.

    4. Right sidebar, a few options for the color scheme, etc.

    Thank you!!!!!!

    Lots of themes like that.

Most child themes have a widgetized homepage which you can use to display anything type of content you like.

Or you can use a static page as your home page and use text only.

The demo’s give you a look at what can be acheived and you’ll get good support if you need to customize further.

If you start with the Genesis theme framework, you can install some of the free child themes on top and get an idea of how Genesis works before you make a final decision on which theme suits your needs.

Thank you for your reply & info.

How do I get started with the free themes. My concern is buying one for $75 & then what if I don’t like it, etc.

    Thanks,

    Jim

All child themes need to be installed after the Genesis parent theme is installed.

Once you have the parent theme framework (Genesis) installed, you can install any child theme.

    Here’s how it works http://www.studiopress.com/get-started

They also offer a money back gaurantee
