Video portfolio within Minimum?

Love the Minimum theme, I’ve been using 1.0 for a while, and want to upgrade to 2.0.  I don’t have that much custom work put into it where starting over is a big deal.

BUT, I’d love to use video more within the theme.  Is there a way to have videos for the thumbnails, or to create a video portfolio page where the videos lightbox when clicked?

I absolutely LOVE this plugin. It adds a Featured Video function the same as Featured Image. If you have a video on your page – it will go grab the thumbnail and use it as the Featured Video thumbnail. You can then create your video portfolio from it.

This is a great plugin, but doesn’t seem to work when adding a custom portfolio, as the video thumbnail isn’t listed by the feature thumbnail like on regular posts?

I am not a techy, so I am not quite sure what you mean. When I use it in a Featured Post or Page widget – it’s pulling the Featured Video thumbnail as my Featured Image. Are you wanting something that will actually create the video content on the portfolio page?

When I’m adding a new portfolio option to the Minimum theme, it looks like this: http://d.pr/i/FeTP

So it seems the plugin doesn’t work with the new portfolio functionality.

No, it says that it will render the Video Thumbnail when you publish the post/page. Write a post/page, add a video embed to the page/post, then Save it draft. Scroll to Featured Video and if there’s nothing there – click the link and it will go grab the thumbnail – then save it.

I understand how it works, just saying that it doesn’t work with the Minimum theme’s portfolio usage.  The screenshot of the post was just to show that it had the video thumbnail section within the post editor, and the portfolio editor does not.

I believe that plugin supports video thumbnails for custom post types. Since the portfolio is a CPT, you have to enable video thumbnails for that CPT in the plugin settings.

I was checking out this thread because I was thinking of using video for the portfolio too. You may be interested in this plugin. I haven’t tried it but it looks very promising for this.

I would have to add, based on the support forum, it would have to be customized though, there is mention of genesis in one of the support threads.
