Twice a week I meet online a friend of mine who is a Rails programmer. He's helping me with my company's Access app. We code on my screen. It has been working amazingly well. I know my way around my app and he knows how to make it dance. I know the work flow and how I want it to work. 90% of the time he drives the mouse. When we're done I take what I learn from watching him work and go through my app incorporating it in multiple places.
The Genesis framework and child themes make it easy to do a lot of basic stuff and I've accomplished that with my current site. However I've reached the limits of my current ability. My conventional options are to 1) story board my changes then hire someone to make them; or 2) read lots of tutorials and become an expert in Wordpress Frankly I do not have the time (or interest) in becoming an expert. And the problem with the first option is that the more I use that expert the more I need them in the future.
I'd like to hire someone to pair code with me on my website.
December 12, 2012 at 6:55 pm #4820SusanModeratorThis sounds like a greater learning tool - just giving this post a "bump" for you. I hope you find someone who can help you!
December 12, 2012 at 9:55 pm #4859jkrytusMemberThank you Susan. I've been kind of bummed that no one wants to take a stab at this. If you guys are afraid that my expectations are too high then why not at least have a conversation about it. I'm very reasonable- I promise :). ...And I even have references (programmers that I've paid a fairly decent amount of money to) to prove that I'm reasonable.
December 12, 2012 at 9:57 pm #4860SusanModeratorI would totally take a stab at it, but I've only been using StudioPress for 3 months myself - I can hold my own here in the forum when it comes to issues I know how to answer, but I'm not a designer or developer (I'm a Project Manager in real life for a reason 😉 )

I envision that we agree on a max per hour that your time is worth. If we work for an hour and we get lots done, then bill me that amount. On the other hand, if we struggle a bit and you feel better about discounting, then by all means do so. Worst case scenario is that I feel that our time working together is not worth the money your charging in which case I'll pay your bill and we part ways as friends.

December 15, 2012 at 4:18 pm #5460bobwpMemberSounds like you are looking a bit for more of a dev trainer. I do a lot of Genesis - Studio Press training, but it's typically for the user end. I don't touch code and find ways around it with all the built in features of the child themes and available plugins.
If you are interested at glancing at my rates you can. Also, I have a series of free videos as well on Genesis settings and some of the different plugins. But it may be stuff you already know 🙂 Best of luck!
