    I need to edit my .htaccess file to add some code to it to make my blog faster. The problem is, I can’t seem to find it. Does anyone know where it is?

    Its normally in your public_html root directory (WordPress files) not in your theme files.

    I’d be careful editing that file unless you know what you are doing. (backup first)

    Any good web host will help you with that file.

    What are you trying to make faster? Where did you get the code or tutorial to do this?

    I’ve added this code to my website .htaccess file (not my blog), and it has improved the speed substantially:

    ———–

    <FilesMatch "\.(ico|jpg|jpeg|png|gif|js|css|swf)$">
    <IfModule mod_expires.c>
    ExpiresActive on
    ExpiresDefault "access plus 30 days"
    </IfModule>
    Header unset ETag
    FileETag None
    </FilesMatch>
    ————–

    I wanted to add it to my blog too. Is it a good idea?

    Actually, the code for my WP blog would be:
    ## EXPIRES CACHING ##
    <IfModule mod_expires.c>
    ExpiresActive On
    ExpiresByType image/jpg “access plus 1 year”
    ExpiresByType image/jpeg “access plus 1 year”
    ExpiresByType image/gif “access plus 1 year”
    ExpiresByType image/png “access plus 1 year”
    ExpiresByType text/css “access plus 1 month”
    ExpiresByType application/pdf “access plus 1 month”
    ExpiresByType text/x-javascript “access plus 1 month”
    ExpiresByType application/x-shockwave-flash “access plus 1 month”
    ExpiresByType image/x-icon “access plus 1 year”
    ExpiresDefault “access plus 2 days”
    </IfModule>
    ## EXPIRES CACHING ##
