There are indicators of additional pages on the welcome widget section. When I click on them it goes to mysite/page1,... etc. but the same welcome widget and text shows.
I've looked at the set up instructions and the picture shows the >> indicators to the right of the image but no mention is made of these "pages" that I can see.
Thanks,
Kent
http://strategichelp.com/January 19, 2016 at 12:26 pm #176938ChristophMemberHi Kent,
if you have more posts than fit on a page (in this case more than 6), pagination buttons will show to navigate to the next/previous pages.
In Whitespace Pro those pagination buttons are showing next to the welcome widget on page load but their position is really fixed so that they stay visible at the same position on the page when you scroll down..
They are not slider buttons to change the appearance of the welcome widget background image or text.
January 19, 2016 at 5:33 pm #176967strategichelpMemberThanks, Cristoph, seems wonky to me to have the pagination buttons show next to an area that is not affected by the pagination buttons, and the design hardly seems responsive if they do, especially on a mobile device. Grumble, whine.
January 19, 2016 at 5:38 pm #176968strategichelpMemberAnd... sorry for the add-on question, what criteria is determining what posts are displayed on the middle section of the home page? I do not see a widget for that area where I could say only show 3 posts, or only show certain categories....?
January 19, 2016 at 5:44 pm #176971strategichelpMemberI see the static page where you can show recent posts, but I need to have some control over numbers, categories, etc. of posts showing on the home page area below the "Welcome" area.
January 19, 2016 at 8:33 pm #176986ChristophMemberThe order of the posts is from new to old.
If you want to control the order, number or category , you either need to write a custom loop or register a new widget area, hook it after the welcome widget area, use a featured posts widget and adjust the css for that widget to show the 3-2 grid.
January 20, 2016 at 8:43 pm #177055strategichelpMemberThere is no current widget space for where this theme wants to dump ALL posts... makes no sense to me. I don't want to mod the php code just to control the lame pagination for posts on the front page, but I will do that as I see it in another users response.
But the posts/pages themselves... is there no way to either eliminate them or control them that is built into this theme...
I would prefer fewer themes with better design and controls within them, than what sometimes appear to be slightly half-baked themes where its assumed that you want all the posts on the front page, or you don't want the fairly well done responsive image with text that disappears if you un-check the posts on the front page.
Love to be missing something....
January 21, 2016 at 10:39 am #177088ChristophMemberThat was a design and functionality decision when they created Whitespace Pro.
In general, the Genesis Framework only provides a certain amount of controls/settings in the user interface but you can change everything with a bit of code.
You can always open a ticket with the official Studiopress support at http://my.studiopress.com/help
