HI Victor,
I removed the specific code that I was asking about from my site. I did discover, however, that I can style it using inline css styles--just not in the main style sheet. So if I need to use it again, I will just use the inline styling. As far as syntax errors, yes, the site is still very much a work in progress. Will be proofread thoroughly for syntax errors and things that aren't working as part of the normal workflow. Thank you for your help.

ameliafranzMemberJust realized that I can probably add another row of widgets (actually one full-width) to the home-bottom widget area. I think that should take care of the problem.

ameliafranzMemberI don't think the closing tags are the problem, because the identical code works fine in my site that's using Agency. I did remove one of the closing tags just to be sure, but it didn't make any difference. The html part (images and text) show up. I just can't style them. I inspected with Chrome Developer tools, and I couldn't find the assigned class when I inspected it, as if the class wasn't being registered, somehow. Maybe I will contact support to see if they can do anything, before I go through the trouble of creating a new widget area. It's a good idea, just was hoping to do it this way because it's quicker.
At any rate, thanks for your time, and for the link.
Best,
--AmeliaameliafranzMemberSure, Brad. Here's the link from Pastebin, to the html I entered in the Simple Hooks plugin:
Here's the css, which isn't working--although the image shows up just fine.
#cta {
background-color: #009298 !important;
padding-top: 20px;
padding-bottom: 30px;
font-family: 'Garamond', serif;
font-size: 18px;
color: #fff !important;
text-align: center;
line-height: .5em;
}Thanks for looking into this!
--AmeliaameliafranzMemberIt works!!! Thank you sooo much, Lynne!!

ameliafranzMemberThanks, Andrea. It doesn't appear to work in Chrome and Safari. I will check with Firefox.

ameliafranzMemberThanks so much for your feedback, Elizabeth. I changed the slider options, and it seems to fit better now.
I will look into speeding it up.
--Amelia
ameliafranzMemberThanks, Eric, for your helpful feedback. I fixed the issue with the Facebook box and the video by simply adding a space at the top of the text widget that holds the FB like box. It is still not the exact size of the video, but I think looks much neater this way.
I will look into the slider buttons issue.

ameliafranzMemberWow, thanks, Trisha! You have a fantastic eye for detail!
The favicon--Why did I forget that? Yes, need to do that.
Text clipped--Didn't even notice that. I will definitely use your solution.
Will look into nav bar, as well.

ameliafranzMemberThanks so much, Sara! I'm not sure why those images weren't showing up. I just added them again, and they seem to be showing up now.

ameliafranzMemberNice job. I think your main front photo needs a little something more -- some kind of border, perhaps? I also think the front photo didn't really grab me. Maybe, as others have suggested, a higher resolution image for the front page might help.
Best,
AmeliaameliafranzMemberHi,
The site looks good. One thing that occurred to me is that all the items in the header right area seem a little cluttered. I'd also find a way to reduce the number of menu items or space them out. The menu also looks a little cluttered.
Overall, you've done some good work! Congrats!

ameliafranzMemberWow, what a great-looking site!
ameliafranzMemberThanks so much for alerting me to the video issue, Vivek. I will work on this. I'll also try out your color suggestions! Thanks so much.

ameliafranzMemberCitidm, I used the Genesis Slider. Thanks!

ameliafranzMemberThanks, Zeekstern. I will look at and see what's going on. It should say something like, Receive Epiphany Community News. Will take a look.

ameliafranzMemberThanks for the tip, Liz, about creating the logo as a .png. I probably should do that. That means I'll have to retrace my steps, because I can't even remember exactly how I made it, lol.
--Amelia
ameliafranzMemberThanks so much, Al! I just made a white header in Gimp, then pasted my logo onto that and uploaded the whole thing. Hope this helps!

ameliafranzMemberOoh, that is useful! Thanks, wpguy. I just took them with the screenshot camera on my Mac. I'll check out Snapito and yes, cropping the browser tabs would look more professional. I'm really new to all this. I've been playing around like mad with WP the past year and a half or so, but just now throwing my freelancer hat into the ring.
ameliafranzMemberI think your site looks really good. The only thing I didn't like so much is the italicized font you're using in the menu and for the headings. Overall, though, I think it looks great!
