You do not need a Genesis compatible newsletter plugin.
You still need to use a mailing list service. The plugins are not the ones that help you send mail to your mailing list. They mostly give an easy to use signup box when you do not want to paste in the signup code from your mailing list provider.
Our Enews plugin is just to make this easier for people. It does nothing to actually manage a list. That is what you use a mailing list provider for.

Andrea RennickMemberBBPress is the forum plugin for WordPress.
It works for any theme. It is what runs this forum.

April 11, 2018 at 7:22 am in reply to: Suggestions for "Meet The Team" plugin for Genesis themes #218864Andrea RennickMemberIf it's a single page, why not just make a new page and add the images and content you want? No plugin needed for that.

April 11, 2018 at 7:21 am in reply to: Hi coummunity, Looking for update/replacement suggestions #218863Andrea RennickMemberMost of the themes have widgetized home pages.
You can put whatever content you want to in any widget area.
Menus can have literally any links you wish in any theme.
As long as the theme demo shows a content area on the home page, you can put whatever you want there.

March 28, 2018 at 6:39 am in reply to: Font Awesome Code Being Stripped from Widgets, Pages, and Posts? #218395Andrea RennickMemberIs there any way to set WordPress or Genesis to only use the text editor?
Go to your User profile in the WordPress admin area on your site and check or uncheck the box to only use the text editor.
This is not Genesis specific and is a long term issue in WordPress.

Go to your User profile in the admin and make sure you have changed the setting to enable the visual editor in WordPress.

March 18, 2018 at 8:31 am in reply to: Free child Genesis themes – none on WordPress.org but some on GitHub #218054Andrea RennickMemberThe WordPress.org theme repository does not allow child themes of any theme not hosted in the repo.
This is not specific to Genesis at all and not an indicator of quality.
Remember the theme review team are also all volunteers.

Users should just be able to go to Pages -> Add New or Pages - >Edit and just use the editor there.

Andrea RennickMemberThe theme uses widget areas, so you'd add more.
Add a widget area:

March 8, 2018 at 7:21 am in reply to: how to redirect (with Genesis Authority Pro theme) images not attached to posts #217493Andrea RennickMemberYou do not need a specific template for this.
The WordPress template hierarchy will use the regular index.php page to show images that are specified to be linked to a page for display.
I had read on some post on the Internet that in my case you could create a template attachment.php to solve the problem of images not attached in the WordPress media.
That's not what attachment.php is for.
Images not attached to a post does not mean they haven't been inserted into a post or not used on your site.
Attachment status is made when you are editing a post or page and upload images while on that page.
if you upload images from the Media screen (not while editing a post) then those images are "unattached".

Andrea RennickMemberHello Andrea, are you sure?
Given I've been testing it, yes. I am sure.
A lot of what you are hearing is future plans, and it's just like Victor said above.
For my background - I've worked at Studiopress now for six years.
I am a former core WP contributor.
I've been a lead on a couple of the team at wp.org.I am extremely familiar with how core WP works, how development works, and also how this particular project is going.
Right now it's a POST editor. The thing that is affected post is some styling on thefront end - no matter what theme is used.
Some plugins that add stuff to the post editor might be affected.
Page builder plugins will certainly be affected.Going back and editing old posts will be affected.
Genesis is not a page builder. It's a parent theme. While we do have some ideas and plans, it's still nothing fancy.
If you follow Brian Gardner on Twitter and check out various Genesis based groups, you will be on top of it.
But the main WP philosophy os backwards compatibility. WO is 30% of the web - do you really think the devs want to break literally tens of millions of sites - including those on wp.com?
If anyone has concerns - PLEASE TEST THE PLUGIN to see for yourself.
WHen the CUstomizer was in dev, we all had these same rounds of discussions. 🙂

Andrea RennickMemberChild themes are not meant to be upgraded and do not get upgrade notifications by default.
Upgrading the child theme would remove all your customizations. Only Genesis gets upgraded as it has all the security updates and WordPress compatibility.
Any updates you see to child themes are there for use on new sites with a new install of the theme. These updates are listed in the changelog in the readme.txt in the child theme folder, and are often minor css fixes or spacing issues.
Discontinued themes are not done so because of security or incompatibility reasons.

March 7, 2018 at 8:25 am in reply to: Needing help to fix my friends website portfolio appearance #217427Andrea RennickMemberI was trying to find the php files for the portfolios on my theme but had no luck.
There aren't any. Workstation Pro does not have a built in portfolio.
If you're using a plugin for this, just add the plugin to the other site. The plugin uses the default styling for your theme and some from the plugin.
In other words - just try the plugin on his site and see how it looks.
Add css as needed.
The reply you got before was telling you to add those template files IF you wanted to make further customizations than the PLUGIN provides. It was not stating those were included in the theme.

Andrea RennickMemberAsk your web host. Some hosts disable the theme editor.
Our themes do not affect the theme editor.
