The forum software used is BBPress, not BuddyPress.

Andrea RennickMemberHi there,
If you mean how are these pages child pages and have parent pages - this is a WordPress setting when you edit each page.
This part is not coded into the child theme. The URL structure is done via WordPress.
The search in this theme is no different than any other theme in WordPress. The search box is WordPress specific, not created by or managed by the theme.

January 23, 2018 at 11:49 am in reply to: Change Author Pro Archive Page Layout to add sidebar for tag cloud #215659Andrea RennickMemberPlugin files do not have functions.php files. Themes do. I was directing you to add the code to your THEME to override the PLUGIN.
add_filter( 'genesis_pre_get_option_site_layout'
Will only force the initial layout. it will be overridden by a setting.so it has to be add_filter( 'genesis_site_layout'
And the term "forking" in code is a common one that means "In software engineering, a project fork happens when developers take a copy of source code from one software package and start independent development on it, creating a distinct and separate piece of software."
Basically, I was saying you can edit the plugin and rename the plugin itself so it is a new plugin. That is called forking.
This is also complex enough with enough code you may wish to hire a developer.

Andrea RennickMemberUpgrade Genesis.
The latest version is 2.5.2 and this is exactly the reason for the layout issue.

Andrea RennickMemberI have noticed that a lot of a well-known (and better designed) themes on Etsy seem to come with the Genesis Framework included in the theme package and I wondered what the rules were for this?
They are not doing this with our permission and if their clients come to us looking for official support we ask them to buy their own copy.
For more specifics, please file a ticket as this forum is for community help, not official answers.

January 14, 2018 at 9:24 am in reply to: Change Author Pro Archive Page Layout to add sidebar for tag cloud #215381Andrea RennickMemberOPen up the author pro functions.php file. Find these lines:
// Unregister layout settings.
genesis_unregister_layout( 'content-sidebar-sidebar' );
genesis_unregister_layout( 'sidebar-content-sidebar' );
genesis_unregister_layout( 'sidebar-sidebar-content' );Remove the line for the layout you wish to keep.
Also remove this line:
// Unregister secondary sidebar.
unregister_sidebar( 'sidebar-alt' );Also, you're trying to modify plugin templates via the child theme. You might need to just fork the plugin.
ps. - posts with more than 2-3 links are held in moderation. Doesn't matter where it is linked to.

Andrea RennickMemberThis tutorial only adds a new widget area if you didn't have one.
It doesn't add a newsletter box. It doesn't add the show/hide javascript.
If you already have a widget area to place a signup in, this tutorial will do nothing for you.
You need to find the show/hide javascript. It doesn't have to be theme specific or even Genesis specific.

Andrea RennickMemberOf greater concern to me is how Gutenburg in WordPress 5 will impact the Genesis Framework.
Have you tried it? It's a post editor, for the admin side.
It doesn't change anything in Genesis. All the options show.

Andrea RennickMemberThemes do not generate sitemaps for content because in WordPress your content is completely separate from your theme.
If you switched theme, then your sitemap would go away. That's why it's a plugin.
Also, Google will crawl your RSS feed if you don't have a sitemap.

December 3, 2017 at 7:40 am in reply to: Confused as to 'homepage' versus 'landing page', etc #214223Andrea RennickMemberA static home page is when you wish to showcase one singular page on the home page - like a Welcome to my website type of page.
A landing page is a SALES type of page. It is not always the home page. It can be an inner page that people "land" on to find out about something on your site.
Q: In the "page attributes" section of the page I've set as my 'static page', should the page attribute be set as "default" or "landing?"
This is only to use a specific page template (theme specific) for that particular page.

Andrea RennickMemberYou're on localhost.
Edit the files with your OS' file manager.
WordPress puts this check in there.

Andrea RennickMemberWhy not just add page specific styling with page classes to the existing style sheet?
Adding another style sheet to load is inefficient.

Andrea RennickMemberA development server and a staging server are basically the same thing - a copy of the site that you work on so you don't muck up the live site.

October 30, 2017 at 8:13 am in reply to: How to install Genesis Simple FAQ plugin on a dedicated page #213087Andrea RennickMemberFrom the plugin page here - https://wordpress.org/plugins/genesis-simple-faq/
To find the shortcode for that specific FAQ:
Go to Genesis Simple FAQ > All FAQs.
The shortcode will be displayed in the table for each FAQ.
You can show FAQs by one or more ID:[gs_faq id="53,41"]
So create your page. Insert the FAQ shortcode. Save the page and publish.

Andrea RennickMemberThey all went to the spam folder as three separate posts.
Posts are auto moderated when there's lots of links and Akismet grabs some posts with loads of code.
Tip: for css, those can be seen on your site with Chrome's Inspect tools. You dont have to paste it all in the forum post.
