Do you want different images such as the Featured image for particular pages/posts? Brad has a tutorial that may help you here.

I don’t make child of a child if I am only making minimal changes to the style sheet only. Not worth all that aggravation in my opinion. Once I make those changes, I save a copy to my hard drive. But if you are going to change code in the functions.php file or your home.php files – say adding in more widget areas, I would then suggest making a child of a child. Just my process.
That has only been happening with the PayPal buttons when they are rendered from the PayPal form code. So if you are using the PayPal form code, then yes – add that to those also. If you upload the image in the media area and then link the image to the PayPal url, then the image will not spread out that way.

If you are adding listings then yes. What are you putting in the Top Search Widget area? The same that appears in Agentpress?
The Portfolio page was configured with the current size in mind. If you increase or decrease the sizes dramatically, then the page layout will also change. So you’ll need to modify the CSS accordingly. No way to tell you what or how to change it until you change your image sizes.
Your original Image One is only 517 wide to begin with – so it will not crop it at 540 wide – it won’t upsize the photo. Image Two is only 480px wide, so again – it won’t up size it. So in order for the images to crop exactly at 540 x 340 – all of your images must be equal to or larger than – 540 x 340.

The themes default images sizes in the functions is this:
//* Add new image sizes add_image_size( 'portfolio', 540, 340, TRUE );
You have images that are varying sizes – both portrait and landscape. The demo is using one set of images all the same size. So with that said, try using the Regenerate Thumbnails plugin and regenerate the images to see what happens.
