Go to your Settings > Permalinks and Save. See if they return. If not, go back and change the permalinks to something else – save and check them again.
Ok, let’s do this. Let me see your screen. Go to http://join.me > click Basic and the Orange button. It will load a little code on your computer which will place a badge at the top of your screen with 9 numbers. Email those 9 numbers to. I can then see your screen to check out what’s happening.
What I normally do is place one Featured Post widget at the top > set to a specific category and to full image. Then I drag another Featured Post below it > use smaller thumbnails and the excerpt. So think of the top as a “featured category” – create one that will update with just that one category at the top.
Up should be able to open your Functions.php files and look or the settings in there. Just change the size to exactly what you want. At that point, it won’t ask you that anymore.
Change Footer Widget 1 to this:

I changed it in Firebug and they are all straightened out now.
And… then look for this… and change 580 to about 650.
border-left: 1px solid #DDDDDD;
border-right: 1px solid #DDDDDD;
padding: 25px 30px 30px;
Look for this and change 950 to say 980 or 990.

Is “Recipes” a category under your Posts? And are all 357 in the Archive “recipes” or a mixture of recipes and other blog entries?
I am not familiar with familiar with the Tribe theme, but to import from Blogger to WordPress simply go to Tools > Import – then select Blogger. It will install the plugin needed and then just follow the steps on the screen. This is how you would do an import to any theme.
Can you post a link to your site so we can take a look? In the meantime, what are you trying to accomplish with the Custom Fields and will you be using the fields in Pages, Posts, both?
