I have to add one more thing. When they used to be a business called RevolutionTwo, those of us who had the old themes received the new Genesis versions at no extra cost. They were not always built on the Genesis Framework. So for all of us who had the old themes, we were informed that we could get the new Genesis Framework and the respective Child Theme. So again, I don't think they would ever just leave you out in the cold without a working product.

December 19, 2012 at 2:14 pm in reply to: [Complain] Unlimited Theme Updates but some Studiopress Themes are being retired #6242AnitaKeymasterSince I have been with Studiopress, they have always provided updates when they were needed, say 2.0 replaces a 1.0. I had Magazine 1.0 and then they upgraded it to 2.0 with extra features, functions, etc. But if they retired them, there is a reason and one possible reason would be that not enough people purchased that item to keep it in the Active bin. Just like clothes shopping. A sweater only stays at full price for so many weeks, then it's discounted and if it's not sold - it goes off to a discount store somewhere. Does that mean the quality of the sweater has diminished - No, it just means that there aren't any people who like the style. I think in order to stay current with all the changing technology its more cost-effective to retire them - it may be too costly to try to upgrade them to today's standards. But, if you should have a problem with the theme - you still have their support and the forums to address and fix whatever issue you have.

AnitaKeymasterI have quite a few Genesis plugins running in my Genesis sites and they don't slow it down at all. I think because they are specifically designed to go with the Genesis Framework - that's why they work so well. Now, if I go and put a non-Genesis plugin in there - that's the one I normally have a problem with. Just try them. Test them out for a few days.

AnitaKeymasterLOL, you guys are funny! What a nice forum Nick! I hadn't thought about anything special to do, but I'll go buy a Birthday Cake and celebrate your dad's birthday. I used to buy them all the time when my Mom was living. They knew me in the bakery. One day the lady said, "You buy a bunch of birthday cakes, you must have a lot of birthdays in your family." I said, "Nope, but it's always somebody's birthday somewhere!" So, I'll get a cake!

AnitaKeymasterI am able to scroll just fine. What browser and version are you using?
Love coffee, chocolate and my Bella!
AnitaKeymasterYes, it brings it all over. You could always create a test site. Export the site and import the contents into your test site to see all the files - especially if you want to see how that process works. I don't like using the backup programs because depending on what hosting company you use, sometimes the time you spend trying to haggle and make things work - you could have just done it the "old fashioned" way and been done with it.

December 18, 2012 at 6:25 pm in reply to: Content-Sidebar-Sidebar change sidebar order and keep sizes #6057AnitaKeymasterOh, I see. There's a better way than hacking the code. Use the Genesis Simple Sidebars Plugin - http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/genesis-simple-sidebars/. For the Home Page - use the Primary Sidebar. Create a new Sidebar for the Inside Pages and add content to that. This way you can add information to the Secondary Sidebar that will fit that column. You won't need to switch the columns.

December 18, 2012 at 3:49 pm in reply to: Can a blog at a subdomain of main site, conflict with the main site? #6010AnitaKeymasterI agree with Susan. It won't slow down your site at all.

AnitaKeymasterThis is what I do monthly. I go to Tools - Export - All and download that. I then go to my Genesis settings - Export - All and save that to my hard drive. If I've made any customization to the theme - I use FTP and copy my theme over. That's all I do. I don't really understand the fuss people make about exporting/backing up content. These steps are easy enough. If something happens - just do a fresh install of WP, add your theme, import your content and there you have it.
*additional note - I FTP my plugin folder also.

December 17, 2012 at 11:36 am in reply to: Content-Sidebar-Sidebar change sidebar order and keep sizes #5761AnitaKeymasterCan you post a link to your site? Here is also another way of doing it - http://genesistutorials.com/snippet/switch-genesis-default-sidebars-with-markup/. But the Content-Sidebar are in one DIV while the Sidebar Alt is in another - so you will need to do some tweaking of the CSS.

AnitaKeymasterHave you tried disabling your plugins? Do that and then enable them one at a time to see if there is a conflict.

AnitaKeymasterHi GJudy, if you haven't use this before - here is the Genesis Visual Hook Guide you can install and it will show you all the hook areas on your theme - http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/genesis-visual-hook-guide/. Here also is another helpful webpage on it also - http://genesistutorials.com/visual-hook-guide/. But the plugin will show you YOUR areas in YOUR theme.
