Found the bugger!
The code in the footer.php in the Genesis core files (not in my child theme) includes this section:
<script type="text/javascript"> // Add a script element as a child of the body function downloadJSAtOnload() { var element = document.createElement("script"); element.src = "jquery.js"; document.body.appendChild(element); } // Check for browser support of event handling capability if (window.addEventListener) window.addEventListener("load", downloadJSAtOnload, false); else if (window.attachEvent) window.attachEvent("onload", downloadJSAtOnload); else window.onload = downloadJSAtOnload; </script> </body> </html>
Note how it calls jquery.js from the root directory
So now, how do I fix this? I know I could just specify the wp-includes.... folder where WP holds an up to date copy of jquery but this feels wrong? Should I do this using some for of wp_enqueue_script?
Cheers
AODMemberGot it sorted now. I think it was something idiotic like me missing a </div> that was causing the footer to break. Hooray, I don't have to learn .php 🙂
AODMemberI've reactivated the 404 pages plugin and it works to a point. I've remembered now what the main problem was:
using the 404 plugin, it upsets the layout of that page as compared to a standard page
Check the footer here: http://www.treforestvets.com/gggg (obv a nonexistent page)
and here: http://www.treforestvets.com/about-usAODMemberyes, it worked fine. Unfortunately I don't understand .php well enough (i.e. at all!) to make it use a normal 'page' template and then edit it from there. I don't understand what an echo is 😉
I'll give the 404 plugin another go
AODMemberThanks, I tried the Genesis 404 page plugin and couldn't get it working. I didn't try very hard though, I may give it another go.
I'm afraid i'm not good enough with php to put my user-friendly 404 page into 404.php. I made a copy of the default genesis 404 in my child theme and edited it but broke the whole website 🙁
October 25, 2013 at 8:14 am in reply to: Changing Header to have more widgets OR multiple images #68827AODMemberYes. Where is that widget coded into the genesis files?
Also, I can find the header CSS in the styles.css file no problem. I have adjusted various paddings for full size and partial size header images, as well as for the header itself. I have had various bits moving around but what I want is the header image/logo to come down off the top by about 10px. Do you know what padding setting I need to change for this?

Also, where do I find the setting to pad the header image (the logo on the left hand side of header?)
Cheers

I'd like them on all pages, fairly standard fixed header, nothing fancy
I'd like them before the nav menu
I've had a crack at it - http://www.pontypriddvets.co.uk (using a combination of your excellent site - the guide I used was http://wpsites.net/web-design/add-header-left-widget-genesis/) and some others) and managed to get this by leaving the 'header image' alone (beyond some basic resizing of the box itself and the image) and adding a widget as detailed. I had a bit of trouble getting it inline to start with but adjustment of sizes got me there (i've already forgotten what I did).
The 'central' widget (named widget-left) I have padded at the top by 10px. I wish to do this to the header image as well but despite playing around with padding values in the full size and partial size header areas, haven't managed to do it. Where can I find the correct area to pad the header image?
To the right is the empty space yet to be filled with something, but this already has the genesis default right widget so I shouldn't have a problem filling it. I have already adjusted the size. Where do I find the .php stuff for this widget?
Cheers
