You don't need a real estate theme, per se, to use an IDX plugin. Most of the bigger name IDX providers that have a WordPress plugin can be used with any WordPress theme. I tried WinningAgentPro and had a poor experience with the theme and their "official setup" services. I have now broadened my search to the vast world of great WordPress themes, into which I will incorporate IDX. So don't limit yourself to only searching for themes that call themselves real estate themes. That would be my input.
belobradicMemberI looked at the Genesis User Profile widget, but it says it displays the user profile with my Gravatar. My Gravatar is my logo, not my photo, so that is not what I am looking for. Good thought though 🙂 I know there must be another way to achieve this so I will hunt around a bit more. Thanks for the suggestions. I appreciate it.
belobradicMemberI looked at the Text widget, but not sure you can (or how to) put a photo in it. It seems to be a headline and then a box for text. So in the demo there is a headline, then the profile photo, and then a short bio below that. I now wonder if there is a Widget made for this that someone may know about?
Thanks,
MikebelobradicMemberThanks. I did a search for "Genesis Extender" but nothing came up in the plugins search that matched that. i will do some research into how to make the edits you mentioned and hopefully it will work out.
Thanks again,
Mike.belobradicMemberThanks.
The newbie side of me has to ask, where is the functions file and the css?
Are those in the WordPress desktop somewhere?
I found "Editor" but not sure if anything is in there.
Thanks,
MikebelobradicMemberOkay. Thank you very much for all your help.
Much appreciated.
Mike.belobradicMemberif the gallery did not show up, for example, does the short code go right into the new post page? (sort of like adding html tags)
Thanks,
Mike.belobradicMemberSo I can ignore the short code, right? Not sure why you'd need a short code when you just set up the gallery, but anyway.
If I wanted to use a plug in version of a gallery, how would I activate that?
Sorry for all the follow-up Qs :0
Thanks,
Mike.belobradicMemberHi Andrea,
Thank you for that link -- that helped in a huge way!One follow up question. I don't really know what short code is or how to use is (I see it referenced all the time). But I did a test and created a gallery and it seemed to work. Do I have to worry about short code at all if I use the method in the tutorial? (Is short code just another way to do it?)
Also I downloaded a jquery slideshow plugin recommended by the Theme and I also have the JetPack carousel, but I really have not idea which one of them (if either) is powering the gallery I created.
Not sure how to tell which one is at work.
Hopefully I can create several different galleries using this method and won't have to be concerned about short code.
Thanks again for your help. One step closer to understanding it 🙂
MikebelobradicMemberYes! That is what I meant. I found it and made the change. Thank you. I am new to WordPress so still finding my way through it.
Much appreciated!
Mike.belobradicMemberThis is hidden one level down from the root at the moment because I just started building it.
I want the footer to be black (not any of the four somewhat awful colour choices I was given!)
Thanks, -
