BrendaGaelSmithParticipant
Thanks @Anita. I am running Showcase Pro on WordPress 5.5.1. Everything is up to date but the mobile header menu disappeared and only reappeared after I installed the jQuery Migrate Helper plugin. I am waiting to hear from Bloom for the official fix.
BrendaGaelSmithParticipantThis plugin worked for me

BrendaGaelSmithParticipant@MiguelContreras did you get any reply from BLoom. I have just discovered the same issue on my site at http://www.brendagaelsmith.com and really don't want to have to change my theme. I have also contacted Bloom today.
BrendaGaelSmithParticipantThank you Anita. My client did indeed have some sticky posts. Once they were converted to regular posts, the issue was resolved.
October 16, 2019 at 7:43 pm in reply to: removing the Overlay on Business Pro home page background? #494080BrendaGaelSmithParticipantGo to Customise>Colours>Overlay Colours and you will find an opacity tool where you can change the percentage.
BrendaGaelSmithParticipantFor others researching this issue, if you go to Customise>Colours>Overlay Colours you will find an opacity tool and you can change the percentage.
BrendaGaelSmithParticipantThanks @andytc. Before I read your e-mail, I found a "first" check box in the widget interface and now it all fits 🙂
BrendaGaelSmithParticipantThanks for that suggestion. That CSS fixes it on desktop but breaks it on mobile (puts it all into one long column).
BrendaGaelSmithParticipantThank you, I knew it was there somewhere but I was looking on the main dashboard screen options menu - Duh!
July 14, 2019 at 4:46 pm in reply to: How to enable sidebar for homepage only when home page is widgetised? #492365BrendaGaelSmithParticipantSuccess! These are the steps I took with the Foodie Pro theme:
- I went back and inserted content in the front page widgets to enable the front page.
- I changed the Reading settings back to default so that home page displays latest posts.
- I changed the site to default to full-width content via Customise>Theme Settings.
- I tried adding the one line snippet to the front-page.php file but it still did not work for me in either the fresh install or the work-in-progress install.
- I added the code below to the functions.php file and the sidebar reappeared on the home/front page of both sites
add_filter( 'genesis_pre_get_option_site_layout', 'change_layout_blog_page'); function change_layout_blog_page( $opt ) { if (is_front_page() ) { $opt = 'content-siderbar'; return $opt; } }
I was confused as the tutorial link contains coding for a variety of scenarios and initially I did not associate "change_layout_blog_page" with the home page but I got there in the end. Thank you for your patience and guidance.
July 13, 2019 at 11:32 pm in reply to: How to enable sidebar for homepage only when home page is widgetised? #492355BrendaGaelSmithParticipantThanks Brad.
I set up a fresh Foodie Pro installation at http://www.serendipitypatchwork.com.au/sandbox2; changed the settings so that the static sample page is the home page and changed the layout in theme settings to full width.
Still no joy when adding the snippet to the front-page.php file. That is to say, no sidebar re-appeared on the home page.
As for adding conditional coding to the functions.php file, I get the beginning part and the if part but am not clear on how to string it all together without getting syntax errors. I tried all sorts of combinations. For example, the following code simply placed the sidebar on the left and not just on the home page but the blog page too.
add_filter( 'genesis_pre_get_option_site_layout', '__genesis_return_sidebar_content' ); { if (is_front_page()) { $opt = 'content-sidebar'; return $opt; } }
Any further guidance is welcome. Thank you.
July 8, 2019 at 7:26 pm in reply to: How to enable sidebar for homepage only when home page is widgetised? #492205BrendaGaelSmithParticipantActually, that snippet worked OK with the Lifestyle Pro theme but not with the Foodie Pro theme. I will have to try the conditional layout coding but that will stretch me.
July 8, 2019 at 3:02 pm in reply to: How to enable sidebar for homepage only when home page is widgetised? #492199BrendaGaelSmithParticipantThat snippet worked perfectly. Thank you!
BrendaGaelSmithParticipantThanks @andytc. I don't need the social links for now but the extra tweak will be useful later on. Thank you for going the extra distance.
BrendaGaelSmithParticipantThank you @andytc for the additional CSS and the explanation. It worked perfectly for my purposes - I don't need social icons in this widget area. I now have linked images and text 🙂
BrendaGaelSmithParticipantPS: In my original link I put http:// rather than https://
BrendaGaelSmithParticipantThat's odd. My webhost has done a scan and reports it is clean at
In any event, I am following the same coding as the Kreativ theme demo
https://themesquare.com/docs/kreativ/front-page-4-widget-area/except I left out the social media links and I am trying to add links to the images and text.
Can you see the screenshots? Is there another/better way I can share screenshots?
BrendaGaelSmithParticipantI am also experiencing issues with creating linked images and text in Front Page Widget 4 with the Kreativ Pro theme. The site is at http://www.vision200textiles.com
This is the coding inserted in the widget for the middle column
https://snag.gy/8xliDM.jpgAnd this is the result:
https://snag.gy/8S2iCw.jpgYou will see that the image is pushed out of alignment to the right and the text is split across several lines in a column.
I have tried to contact the third party developer twice. Both times, an onscreen message indicated that the support inquiry had been successfully submitted but I did not receive any confirmation e-mail nor any support.
I gather there must be a CSS conflict somewhere but I can't work it out. I welcome any troubleshooting tips.
BrendaGaelSmithParticipantHi Victor - I never could get that code to work with Woocommerce archive pages but I found the fix. In the end, it was very easy.
Dashboard>Products>Categories>Select Category>Edit and about half way down the page are the Category Archive Settings where you can change the Archive headline. If you leave it blank, the archive-title element defaults to the same as the category and shows up as a double up.
BrendaGaelSmithParticipantThank you for your reply Victor. I assume that I add this code to the functions.php folder for my theme? If so, that isn't working for me. See eg: https://deborahlouie.com.au/shop/
Not that I actually want to remove/hide the shop page title but I tested it with the page ID 76.Anyway, your comment highlights that two separate elements are appearing and gives me a heads up for where I might look for other solutions.
My other challenge is trying to work out the relevant ID for the archive page. The product ID for books is 17 but I don't know how this works with this product listing by category page. See: https://deborahlouie.com.au/product-category/book/
Any guidance is welcome.
