@Summer, good points,
I have sometimes been frustrated at the lack of diversity amongst Genesis child themes, and sometimes when I find a different one, it doesn’t stay on the market long or needs a lot more under-the-hood work to bring it into full Genesis-powered goodness.
But then whenever I venture out of the playground to use a WP theme by someone else, I get smacked upside the back of the head in a harsh reminder why I love the ease of use and peace of mind that comes with using Genesis child themes. It’s the biggest reason I ran away screaming from WooThemes after their shoddy coding caused me to lose money on two projects about a year and a half ago.
Reminds me of helping others out with their problems. I'll get it coded with Genesis 2.0. Anyone know how much it generally costs?

BruceMMemberI've previously used a number of themes myself (I'm a consultant not a designer/developer), and have been around for 5 years using Genesis (after the Thesis controversy blew up anyhow). But I've decided to use an external designer this time to get something I couldn't find in Genesis themes or do myself using a Child theme.
So I'm not worried about the design element as design is being done by a designer. I'm more thinking do I bother getting a normal convert PSD to HTML/CSS from the likes of www.psd2html.com. Or do I spend a lot more money for someone to convert the PSD to Genesis framework (a whole day according to the link).
The benefit would be easy manipulation of the site after it goes live with hooks and... Schemas I can get from plugins, SEO I get from Yoast.
As far as I can see, which is why I'm worried I'm not seeing the "forest", Genesis is great for designers but does not have much benefit if you've gone outside of Genesis for design.
Your thoughts? I'm reckon I'm confused and am missing something here.
