Thank you, Brad.
Next time I'll check a few more browsers before assuming it's my site. It worked fine for me too... except in my main Firefox browser... so cleared cache, closed, rebooted twice... now it's fine.
Pheww....
Thanks.
Charlie
CharlieSeymourJrMember@Sridhar EUREKA! It worked. Thanks. Gotta kind of wonder why Genesis didn't do that.
Another problem on that same page.
The sign-in form I use is an -iframe- from my email company. I have tweaked the look on this landing page to look pretty good: on the computer.
However... on my smartphone, the lower text drops SO low, I can't see it. I've figured out because it has a min pixel height of 600px, which works well for this page on the computer but not the phone. If I reduce that OR take out the 600px statement and just leave percentages, the form needs to scroll on my computer screen.
Also, To set up my side-by-side video and form, I used the format (which I picked up from Genesis):
<div class="one-half first"> </div>
<div class="one-half"> </div>UNFORTUNATELY... if one side is longer than the other, spacing gets of and sometimes the text that follows wants to jump up the page OR will space over leaving a space where the div (though invisible) takes over.
Also... So... how do I fix that?
Here's my form code: <iframe style="min-height: 600px !important; width: 100%;" src="http://instantcustomer.com/view_form/84957" height="100%" width="100%" frameborder="0"></iframe>
BTW... the png you showed me looks GREAT - but that comes from squeezing a monitor's web browser tight. If you go to TheVideoMarketingGuys.com on your smartphone, the bottom text basically disappears.
Thoughts?
Thanks for your help.

CharlieSeymourJrMember@Sridhar - I will... It wasn't clear to me what to do with that.
But first: a QUESTION: What is that expected to do?
- Will that make the Landing Page responsive?
- Will that just widen the Landing Page?
- Will that change ALL Landing Pages or just one that I'm working on?Thanks for your help.
Charlie Seymour Jr
CharlieSeymourJrMemberLet's see if I can pursue this further.
@lucaslem - Not sure where to put what you gave me. I went to the style sheet for the Agency Child Theme and put it into the body section but that didn't correct my problem (I changed the page-id-339 to page-id-2302, the id for this page, change the template from Landing Page back to Default, but still had all the parts of the layout I didn't want). Here again is really what I want:
I need a RESPONSIVE (which the Landing Page theme is not) single page which I can turn into a Landing Page. Though I'm not afraid to try some code, I'm not as familiar as you are with where it goes, so more help will be needed.
Do I need to EDIT code (if so, where?) or is there something on the edit page of this Page that I can quickly modify?
Have any idea why the Landing Page layout is NOT responsive in a responsive theme?
Thanks for your help.

CharlieSeymourJrMember@surfpeople Thanks, Lee, for caring so much to write me. Deeply appreciated.
Believe me, I've tried everything. I must have a plugin in conflict with something here because I never could get those tabs to work - and they LOOK great!
But... on a smartphone, they may not be the best way to go. So... I've stuck with a standard menu because being responsive and looking good on a smartphone (and tablets) is real important to me.
You're terrific to write. Thanks so much!
Charlie
PS: And Oh.... since "normal mortals" don't know how to code and don't want to bother with CSS, I always look for a solution that doesn't require it. It still amazes me that StudioPress and Genesis can be as successful as it is with so many twists and turns required. Have us use widgets: yes. Have us code and edit code: sure doesn't sit well with me.
CharlieSeymourJrMemberJeanne,
WHEN you cut back the number of header-right tabs (IF that solves the problem), look at David's site to see how menu items drop down from Guitarist: http://davidchu.net/
You can have a few tabs and then sub-menu items just like that.

CharlieSeymourJrMemberDave,
Thanks for getting back to me. And frustrated I am.
But here's my biggest frustration: Time. Learning Curve. Starting over.
What I now have at http://LessonsFromMyGrandson.com and http://DrMarcAndCharlie.com work. Not as advertised, perhaps, but they work. And though I have other sites to set up for us and our clients, do I really want to learn the ins and outs of even more themes and frames, while discovering which ones have the SEO capabilities I need and the security that they owners will be around for continuing upgrade?
Hmmmm... tough one, that...
What frustrates me as much is knowing that someone like Jeanne (on this post) is given code to correct her problem. But has she ever worked with code before? Does she know where to use it? Does she have any idea how to find the editor?
You're great to follow up with me and with her... but I'm just surprised that a frame and theme set with so many users has to resort to work arounds so much of the time.
I'll DM you, too.
Charlie Seymour Jr
CharlieSeymourJrMemberQuestion: WHY is there so much code writing needed to make StudioPress Themes work!??
Do people think that "normal mortals" really want to get into code editing?
Seriously - I have 57 websites with most of their being WordPress (others are landing pages) and I have never had to worry so much about coding before.
Dragging and modifying widgets, yes. Changing code: no.
Charlie Seymour Jr
CharlieSeymourJrMemberJeanne,
Ahhhh, see what you mean. I guess there are several things you can do to work around that:
- Use fewer tabs in the header-right area. Did you try to have fewer tabs? First it's important to find out if the TABS are covering your name or if the area for where your name is is smaller than what you have in there. (I won't even begin to figure out how to reduce the size of the font in your header - I assume that you're not using a jpg for that area, right? It's supplying the text from your site name? So... turn OFF the widget in the header right and see if your full name appears. If it DOES then it's the tabs causing it. If NOT... then the area for your name is smaller than you need.
- I use a header graphic - but since that causes other problems not solved by this Child Theme, I won't go into all of that right now.
- IF you find limiting the number of (header-right) tabs can work, you can always use the header-right tabs for one thing and the regular menu for others. Right now you have BOTH showing the same things, but you can show different things in different locations by having more than one named menu.
Hope that helps at least a bit!
Charlie
CharlieSeymourJrMemberREALLY sorry that I can't help you... I NEVER got the menu tabs to work on my http://LessonsFromMyGrandson.com website. The site looks "OK," just not the way I really wanted it to look!
Hope you'll come back here when you get your answer.
Charlie Seymour Jr
CharlieSeymourJrMember@Weslinda - Once again, thank you very much for sticking with me.
As I wrote WAY back at the beginning of this project (but on another thread), I DID set up the Header Right as the location for my menu, hoping to get the blue menu tabs to appear. The widget is there, the menu NOT selected as primary or secondary, and NADA. No menu shows up there. (Sorry... I misspoke about using the secondary when I wrote that yesterday).
And the only way I could get my header to be responsive and SHOW what I want was to create the long one as told by the Theme (1140 ?— 120 pixels), center the main part and make it only 240 pixels wide, and add the photo offset to the right. So computers and tablets show it correctly, cellphones only show the center logo. I tried several recommended plugins to be sure I could have a responsive header and none did the trick (you know... the ones that tell me to create 4 different sized logos, input a jpg for each, and when the size of the screen was equal to one of them, they would show the header correctly). What I REALLY wanted was my logo on the LEFT side when viewed on a computer or tablet, but I could never get one that worked correctly on a cellphone when I did that.
What really surprises me with the success of Genesis is that I just KNOW there are tens of thousands of ordinary bloggers who are sharper than I am when it comes to setting up website. Somehow when I set up 57 websites (admittedly not all are WordPress) I never had this much trouble tweaking the site to get it to work the way I wanted.
I used to use Semiologic Pro... sometimes with other themes added on top, especially when creating sales pages. The looks were a bit square, the SEO was superb upon loading, but they seemingly went out of biz. My http://CreateYourOwnLegendNow.com/success/category/blog/ and http://SmileCentre.com are two examples of how that worked.
So... where am I now? I have a serviceable look and function, I have a header that "works" and seems to be responsive, I have videos that are responsive with the YouTube player, and the list of previous posts show jpgs of my videos.
Not bad... just wasn't what I expected coming from StudioPress and Genesis.
Thanks again for your help!
Charlie Seymour Jr
CharlieSeymourJrMember@Weslinda Thanks so much for following up with me.
What I really wanted was to have the actual video show up on my opening page... but of course that slows down to load of the page. So I've relented, created jpgs for each video, and now I see the jpg on the opening page and go to the individual post to see the full video. You can see what I did at http://LessonsFromMyGrandson.com
It's MOSTLY the way I want it to operate... now if I could only get the menu "tabs" to appear rather than the clunky-looking menu bar that I have, I'd like it a whole lot more. (I've tried the secondary menu location and don't get what I see in the example on StudioPress.)
And to get my videos to be responsive, I tried the plugin you suggested above: Advanced Responsive Video Embedder plugin - It didn't work very well. But then I noticed a comment in your stream that you were going to report back to the developers about a problem with that plugin. So then I discovered the Fluid Video Embeds plugin and it works like a charm when using their simple short codes.
I had a guru suggest to me one time "good enough is good enough." Hey, not one to "settle," but if I don't get on to creating more content, it won't matter how beautiful my site is because there won't be anything on it.
Thanks again for sticking with me. Deeply appreciated.
Charlie Seymour Jr
CharlieSeymourJrMember@WesLinda - Wes, I installed the Advanced Responsive Video Embedder plugin and am testing it. Some "bang my head against the wall" problems, still.
I figure out how to see videos to posts and make them responsive. This plugin handles them really sweetly! Thanks for this.
What I CAN'T get it to do is show the VIDEO in the post except at the bottom of the posts page. They show up great within each post, but the summary of the post at the bottom of my opening page still doesn't work. Dang this has been difficult.
As you can see on THIS website (NOT Genesis), I have videos showing to entice people to click on them or go to the full post. THAT'S what I want to do here: http://CreateYourOwnLegendNow.com/success/category/blog/
I followed your earlier suggestions (about unclicking the Show Featured Image and changing “Display post excerpt” to “Display post content,” but still have have no videos showing on the posts page, the featured posts, the archives, recent posts, or anywhere else except the main post where the video is embedded using the plugin.
Am I missing something really obvious? I have NO more hair to pull out but would love to get this site up and running today.
Charlie Seymour Jr
PS: Again, the site I'm working on is http://LessonsFromMyGrandson.com
CharlieSeymourJrMember@BradDalton Thanks for the headsup about the upcoming version of WP - I look forward to it.
And thanks for taking the time to write to help me. Much appreciated.
Charlie Seymour Jr
CharlieSeymourJrMember@Weslinda Thanks for your help. I FINALLY figured a way to get the Genesis Media Project plugin to work for my site: http://LessonsFromMyGrandson.com Didn't get videos to show up everywhere I wanted, but it's coming along well.
Thanks for the tip about Advanced Responsive Video Embedder - I'll check that for another of my Genesis sites.
And thanks for taking the time to help me. Much appreciated!
Charlie Seymour Jr
CharlieSeymourJrMemberThanks for taking the time to connect with me, David. Much appreciated!
CharlieSeymourJrMemberSorry for the confusion and thanks so much for replying... YES, the blue MENU tabs that show in the Education Theme in the upper right. How the heck do I get them?
I've done what you suggested (and what I expected to work), and it doesn't. I have turned on the Secondary Menu location in another Genesis installation and it worked well, so this has be baffled.
HOW do I contact Official Support to ask them about this?
Charlie
CharlieSeymourJrMember@Sean Thanks. I swear I tried it that way too... but it sure does work. Thanks so much. It was driving me crazy!
Any way to work your magic on my questions 1 and 2? Here they are again:
1) I REALLY like the blue tabs – but no matter what I do, I can’t seem to figure out how to get them. The links on the menu line are boring, and the tabs were one of the reasons I got THIS theme. How is this created (since simply creating my Primary Menu doesn’t do it)?
2) No matter what I do, I can’t switch the menu line into the Secondary position either. I have TWO custom menus created, have the widget for custom menu in the Right Header area with the proper menu listed. NADA. Nothing works.
If I can’t get the tabs, I’ll go for the menu in the header… but so far I can’t get it to work. (Really – I KNOW how it’s supposed to work – I have it there on my other Genesis website).
Charlie
CharlieSeymourJrMemberDoesn't seem to have worked. I put it just INSIDE the last } and also tried it on the other side.
Still have the problem.
CharlieSeymourJrMember@Brad - it seems the space after the URL was included. Here's the link:
http://LessonsFromMyGrandson.com
Oh, no... 57 websites on LOTS of different serves.
So... any ideas for me to get the Education Theme working as promised by StudioPress?
