Okay so what happens if the site you want the template based from has already been created? Can the new template be created after the site you want duplicated has already been setup? I'm reading through their information for this plugin...
Or do you have to first create the template (it would be empty at that point), then create your new subsite with everything you want in it), and then copy all the widgets and info for future sites into the template?
Thanks for clarifying!

So I can take a Subsite (not the main site).... and create a template to say everything I want in it duplicated (which would be all) in order to create a new Subsite? Little confused.... I did take a look at the page.
Thanks!

Thanks for the fast response.

February 22, 2013 at 11:12 pm in reply to: Subsite Setup for Intranet & Subscriber Can't Logout & Can't Change Password #22354computerkittenMemberSo I added the Shortcode to the bottom of the page for Logout and so that should work like a charm.
But this plugin may do the trick to hide the Dashboard but still give them the capability of changing their password.

Will check it out and see!

February 22, 2013 at 10:39 pm in reply to: Subsite Setup for Intranet & Subscriber Can't Logout & Can't Change Password #22353computerkittenMemberOkay so there is no way to have an Intranet then... without showing a Dashboard so that they can change their password right? The Dashboard is sorta distracting though for someone wanting to just view that and change their password say every 30 days. But okay I suppose that is the only solution. Really though????
Regarding the e-mail notification it sounds like a server issue! Okay... will check on that its wh I sorta suspected too.
Okay... I will check on the login/logout footer... you are right I have seen those shortcodes before. Just a matter of getting them back in place. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!

computerkittenMemberOkay so I am going to try to talk the client into just having that information in the column it should have just gone into to begin with, ha! So waiting actually on the client at this point for that. I do know there are still problems with the site right now... until I hear back I really don't want to make any adjustments.
Thank you for looking at all of this too I really do appreciate it and understand now there is no paid support unless we switched hosting which would be a big stretch getting a client to change over. Brian did though get back in touch with me so that is good!
Thank you!

February 21, 2013 at 11:06 am in reply to: Really should I just remove the Responsive Design? #21996computerkittenMemberAlright... it looks like I can't have a true additional column on the home page... after putting Categories in different widgets nothing made it a real separate category. I guess its really meant to go underneath the posts... PM me if you know of a way of fixing it for hire.
Thanks!

February 21, 2013 at 10:36 am in reply to: Really should I just remove the Responsive Design? #21986computerkittenMemberAlso I saw what is causing the problem...finally!
.featuredpage .page, .featuredpost .post is set to 600px.... when I change that to like 90% it fixes it... issue though is that the Categories that were in that "appearing" 2nd column disappear and fall below. What I truly need now is to know how to make it 2 columns so that the Categories can go in that instead. Then I'm set. Not sure how to change the layout for the Home page but may be in Genesis default, will see.

February 21, 2013 at 10:27 am in reply to: Really should I just remove the Responsive Design? #21983computerkittenMemberThanks again for your explanation. I think what I will do then is just copy the entire @media only screen and (max-width: 400px) because pretty much that entire section was eliminated. Just the little bit above.
Will back up everything... let you know how it goes. Also... are you available for hire too? If so PM me.
Thanks!!!

computerkittenMemberOkay so I downloaded the original Education style.css file.
I virtually have an empty section for the max width of 400px (which I added below it a 320px max width thinking that is what was needed for the iPhone but maybe not). Possibly I should go back and remove this 320px max width. Not sure why so much has been removed for the 400px section.
This is all that is in this max-width 400px section being way different than the original:
@media only screen and (max-width: 400px) {.post-info,
.post-date,
.post-meta,
.breadcrumb {
display: none;
}
HERE IS THE ORIGINAL MEDIA MAX WIDTH OF 400PX THAT I DOWNLOADED FOR COMPARISON, OBVIOUSLY MUCH MORE CODE:
@media only screen and (max-width: 400px) {.post-info,
.post-date,
.post-meta,
.breadcrumb {
display: none;
}#subbox {
margin: 10px 0 !important;
}#home-featured .featured .widget {
width: 100%;
}#home-featured .intro,
#home-featured .intro p {
font-size: 30px;
line-height: 1.2;
}#home-featured .inner {
padding: 30px;
}#sidebar-alt {
margin: 0 !important;
}#header .widget {
float: none;
}#header .widget-wrap {
padding: 10px;
}#header .menu {
float: none;
position: relative;
width: 100%;
}.menu-primary li,
.menu-secondary li,
#header .menu li {
float: none;
}.menu-primary a,
.menu-secondary a {
padding: 11px 15px;
}.sidebar {
margin: 0 20px 20px;
}h1 {
font-size: 38px;
}h2,
h2 a {
font-size: 28px;
}h3 {
font-size: 26px;
}h4 {
font-size: 20px;
}.post {
margin: 0 0 25px;
padding: 0 0 25px;
}#content {
margin: 20px;
width: 90% !important;
}.comment-list li,
.ping-list li {
padding: 15px;
}#author,
#comment,
#email,
#url,
#comment {
width: 90% !important;
}}
computerkittenMemberThanks for explaining I will attempt this then!
You mentioned "Notepad++ and a plugin for that editor that does comparisons."... are you saying there is a Notepad ++ plugin I need to get or do I just need Notepad++ and something else?
Thank you for your help!

February 20, 2013 at 10:21 am in reply to: Really should I just remove the Responsive Design? #21678computerkittenMemberYes I had hired Brian Lis to make the responsive design look good. And not able to get a response back from him after several days. So my hands are a bit tied.
I know that I need to modify a section with CSS in the mobile section...the issue is...I don't know what section for the Iphone. I could probably fix this myself if I knew exactly where in the styles.css file I need to be to edit this and get it so these posts on the home page look good.
Can you please advise just that?
Thanks,
CK
computerkittenMemberOkay I would like to just only fix then the chopping off of the posts on the home page... everything else works "good enough."... I had actually hired someone through StudioPress to make the site responsive and discovered this issue but now have not heard back from them yet.
So if I could get some guidance here on only fixing the posts that would be most appreciated. To trash this site and start over is not an option... the client will accept it as is if the posts are fixed.
Thanks,
CK
February 19, 2013 at 7:47 pm in reply to: Education Theme – Featured blog excerpt posts cut off on Iphone #21549computerkittenMemberOkay I found different sections for mobile devices but how do I know which one would apply to the Iphone?
Thanks!!!

February 19, 2013 at 7:35 pm in reply to: Education Theme – Featured blog excerpt posts cut off on Iphone #21544computerkittenMemberHow do I find where the responsive section is that defines that width? Or how do I override for the responsive section this width of 600px (make it a smaller width, reduce the font size...?).
Thanks!

February 13, 2013 at 12:59 pm in reply to: Using "More Privacy Options Plugin" for Subsite – but beingdumped to Dashboard #20117computerkittenMemberWanted to add that an example of a login screen that is not associated with the WordPress editor (they said) is his website's login link at the top right:

February 13, 2013 at 12:58 pm in reply to: Using "More Privacy Options Plugin" for Subsite – but beingdumped to Dashboard #20115computerkittenMemberThank you I did a Redirect Plugin to the Home screen and that worked!!
However... is this a pretty common method of having an intranet with a subsite setup and using these types of plugins? Client is asking me this as well as they had another site with a membership that was not associated at all with WordPress.
I had setup a few users with Subscriber status, disabled the Toolbar for each of those. It seems to work okay as a method for the Intranet users but would like some feedback. Outside of this is paid memberships right?
Thanks,
CK
February 5, 2013 at 3:01 pm in reply to: Multisite: Have subsites but one of which I want unique CSS for #18319computerkittenMemberOkay thank you for that feedback. I will post again to see if this is how others customize a subsite... only because they may not look at the post since its been responded to. Just want to be sure before I install this. Thank you for your help!
February 5, 2013 at 8:39 am in reply to: Multisite: Have subsites but one of which I want unique CSS for #18205computerkittenMemberI have actually never used Jetpack. I assume I could install it and then just activate it for this one subsite right? I wonder if this is the only solution to this for getting unique CSS for just one subsite?
Thanks!
