Thanks so much, Brad!
I'm sorry for the delay. I got locked out of the forum while I was traveling and couldn't respond. I created the new PHP file and I am getting much closer. Here is what it looks like:
http://drcarla.com/home/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/Blog.png
I added a featured image and I want it to be 2-3 times as tall as this one. Do you know what I need to do to change this? I looked in the CSS and I don't see anything obvious that I need to change and I don't see a class for "hero flexible-widget-area".
Also, I want the page title to show up on top of the image like this: https://wildhousedesigns.com.au/2017/05/09/by-jem-lookbook/
Can you clarify what you mean by "find the CSS rules for each class the PHP generates"?
Thanks!

Thanks for responding. Can you be more specific about how I can track down which portion of the code is dedicated to the full-width image in the Gallery Pro header? It's been a few years since I looked at the functions.php code. If you can say more about the conditional tag, that would be great!

CarlaParticipantRay-zin,
Sorry for the delay. No, I am still using the old version. I might duplicate my site in a subdirectory and test out the upgrade before trying it out on my site. I don't want to break my site. Thanks for the link. I will check it out.
CarlaParticipantThank you Godfather!!! You saved me a lot of time and headaches. I was having the exact same problem and I didn't know the code for transparency, but now it is fixed. Thank you for sharing.

March 27, 2013 at 11:32 pm in reply to: Insert an image or HTML code into the Serenity Subnav Bar instead of Menu Links #31673CarlaParticipantThanks everyone! This is promising. I'll have to take a closer look when I'm not so sleepy. In the meantime, can you clarify what you mean by style the plugin directly?
I'm already using Simple Sidebars throughout my site but didn't know that they could be used outside of the Sidebar area...
So, could I also use the after header hook to insert the horizontal sign up bar above the menu (in the space in between my header and the menu) if I decide that I want to keep my subnav? Just to be clear, following this method would insert the content inside of the subnav bar area instead of above the menu? I don't have to "turn off" the menu?
March 27, 2013 at 11:23 pm in reply to: Sample Child Theme – Bypass Alphabetical Order in Menus #31671CarlaParticipantI got that info from the style sheet, but I guess that's not the correct theme. Interesting.
March 27, 2013 at 6:46 pm in reply to: Insert an image or HTML code into the Serenity Subnav Bar instead of Menu Links #31632CarlaParticipantThat would be awesome. Thank you.
CarlaParticipantI added the photos almost 2 years ago, but they are linked to the posts associated with the captions next to each photo in the slider. I haven't seen anything in the Widgets area.
March 27, 2013 at 6:35 pm in reply to: Sample Child Theme – Bypass Alphabetical Order in Menus #31629CarlaParticipantInteresting. This is what I see in the CSS. Where do you see the Elegant Themes info?:

*/March 27, 2013 at 2:52 pm in reply to: How to Change URL that Header Image Links to in Serenity Theme #31602CarlaParticipantI redesigned my header after asking this question. Do you have any ideas about how I could make this work with the following header?: http://drcarla.com/images/New%20Headers-Tall.png
1) How can I turn the entire header or a clickable area (the hot pink section at the bottom) into the URL that directs to my mailing list sign up form? Can I reposition the right header and move it to the bottom? If so, will the widget overlap on top of the image?
Could I insert an invisible image in that area and link it to my desired URL? If so, would the rest of the image (not in the widget part) still link to my home page?
2) How can I reposition the right widget so that it shows up in the hot pink area of my header at the bottom so I can insert a form where they can enter their name and email address directly into the header?
March 27, 2013 at 2:43 pm in reply to: Sample Child Theme – Bypass Alphabetical Order in Menus #31601CarlaParticipantI was under the impression from reading the CSS and googling that this is a free StudioPress theme? (I didn't design the site).
CarlaParticipantThank you. Do you know what other changes have been made to the theme? I'm not sure if it's worth upgrading since I customized it. Do you know if version 1.0 uses the Genesis Slider Plugin? That sounds much easier.
March 27, 2013 at 2:38 pm in reply to: Insert an image or HTML code into the Serenity Subnav Bar instead of Menu Links #31599CarlaParticipantThanks! I'm not sure if my question was clear. I want the box to be inside of the purple sub nav bar above the slider, not in the Welcome area. I'm wondering if it's possible to add code or an image into the purple area instead of using the Menu links. I'm not sure how else to word this, so I hope it is more clear.
