    For more padding top / bottom of logo, change padding values for header wrap

    .site-header .wrap {
    border-bottom: 2px solid #222;
    padding: 30px 0;
    padding: 3rem 0;
    }

    Above change 30px 0 and 3rem 0 values. Try 10, 20 and check which final look you want. As such, best option is using firebug or inspect element feature in Google Chrome to find exact class to modify padding values.

    1. Look for following code:

    /* Widget Area
    ——————————————— */

    .site-header .widget-area {
    float: right;
    text-align: right;
    width: 728px;
    }

    .header-image .site-header .title-area,
    .header-image .site-header .widget-area {
    padding: 40px 0;
    padding: 4rem 0;
    }

    .site-header .widget-area p {
    margin-bottom: 0;
    }

    2. Change
    padding: 40px 0; to padding:10px 0;
    padding: 4rem 0; to padding:1rem 0;

    Then check!

    1. In the above code change

    padding: 30px 0 30px 0;
    padding: 3rem 0 3rem 0;

    to

    padding: 30px 0 0 0;
    padding: 3rem 0 0 0;

    2. Then remove all widget(s) that you have placed in header right area. Save and now check if padding goes away. If yes, then we need to change padding in header right widget section.

    For you wife’s website, you can use new theme for fresh look. Here are few suggestions:

    1. Check splash theme (1st one) http://www.basicwp.com/email-marketing-genesis-themes/

    2. Or use latest News Theme – http://demo.studiopress.com/news/

    3. If you can play around with code, you can build narrow width and in your focus on contents like this – http://www.dopottytraining.com/

    For a start, its real good. Lot of blank space at bottom area in mobile. You may want to work more on customizing look for small screen devices. Check here – http://www.responsinator.com/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fhomesbymenefee.com%2F

    What I can see, whole page is still visible on iPhone – however, it re-size to small iphone screen. Do you want to make website appear full width even on iPhone?

    If yes, then remove responsive css code from style.css file. It is the code at the bottom under “Media Queries” section.

    1. Open functions.php file of your theme.

    2. Look for:
    //* Add support for 3-column footer widgets
    add_theme_support( ‘genesis-footer-widgets’, 3 );

    3. Comment this code out, that is change this to:
    //* Add support for 3-column footer widgets
    //add_theme_support( ‘genesis-footer-widgets’, 3 );

    1. Easy way would be switching to all new genesis html5 theme which is responsive by default.

    2. To add responsive feature to this theme, download sample genesis theme. Copy the responsive media query code in functions.php file and then add responsive css code in current theme’s style.css file. This will require lot of testing and code modification though.

    To reduce overall height of the header, reduce 90px of min-height: 90px; in the following code.

    /* Logo, hide text */

    .header-image .site-header .wrap {
    padding: 0;
    }

    .header-image .site-title a {
    background-position: center !important;
    background-size: contain !important;
    float: left;
    display: block;
    min-height: 90px;
    text-indent: -9999px;
    width: 100%;
    }

    ——————————–

    For more customization, in the following code

    Site Header
    —————————————————————————————————- */

    .site-header {
    padding-top: 30px;
    padding-top: 3.0rem;
    }

    .site-header .wrap {
    border-bottom: 2px solid #222;
    padding: 30px 0;
    padding: 3rem 0;
    }

    Change padding:30px 0; to padding: 30px 0 0 0;
    and
    padding:3rem 0; to padding: 3rem 0 0 0;

    Let me know how it goes!

    You need to find the above code and then change padding values to adjust space.

    Like

    padding-top: 64px;
    padding-top: 6.4rem;

    Change this to

    padding-top: 20px;
    padding-top: 2rem;

    and so on.

    ***Note: Remember to change rem values accordingly:

    10px = 1rem
    40px = 4rem
    55px = 5.5rem

    Try again.

    Yeah, you can go one by one. Start with simple ones like changing background color of sidebar or adding color elements to top menu.

    Hi, you can add color and more style elements to various sections, like:

    1. Add logo images instead of text at top left.
    2. Add background color to either of sidebar for more focus on content area.
    3. Use bigger image at top middle part of content area so that it spans whole width giving fuller look.
    4. Add color to background and mouse hover to elements in menu.
    5. On right sidebar, use mailchimp subscribe box instead of link.

    Above changes do require some know-how about css. Try it or you can get premium help ;)

    1. Open style.css file (backup before making changes, copy contents in a notepad file).
    2. Look for following:

    /*
    Site Header
    —————————————————————————————————- */

    .site-header {
    padding-top: 64px;
    padding-top: 6.4rem;
    }

    .site-header .wrap {
    border-bottom: 2px solid #222;
    padding: 30px 0;
    padding: 3rem 0;
    }

    3. Above change padding values to adjust spacing.

    4. For changing space in widget at top right, change padding value in following code found in style.css file

    /* Widget Area
    ——————————————— */

    .site-header .widget-area {
    float: right;
    text-align: right;
    width: 728px;
    }

    .header-image .site-header .title-area,
    .header-image .site-header .widget-area {
    padding: 40px 0;
    padding: 4rem 0;
    }

    .site-header .widget-area p {
    margin-bottom: 0;
    }

    Try this:

    1. Open style.css file (backup before making changes).
    2. Search for .wp-caption class
    3. Add font-size:10px; (or any value as per requirement).

    If this does not work, try adding font-size:10px to p.wp-caption-text / .wp-caption-text
