I fixed the title text issue by putting a display:none in the title a css. The main problem was fixed by changing to Firefox.
I’ve tracked the problem down to the Chrome browser. I disabled all plugins. In Chrome (23.0.1271.64), and Genesis 1.8.x or 1.9 beta the sidebars won’t respond to clicks in the admin area. However, I switched to Firefox and the problem didn’t appear.
There is another issue (for which I filed a support ticket) of being unable to remove the title text and description text in the custom header set-up. I unselect the title/description text for the header, press ‘save’, and the checkbox is reenabled and the text is back. This happens in both Chrome and Firefox, Genesis 1.8.x and 1.9 beta.
So, I can duplicate index.php, rename the duplicate tag.php, and WordPress will use that as my default layout? Currently index.php is simple a php block with a comment. I should be able to replace that comment with my own layout?
Solved. I had set the background in the frontend, as well as via style.css. I removed the front-end styling and then the two images locked as wanted.November 22, 2012 at 2:11 pm in reply to: Looking for feedback / suggestions on my Surf / Kayak Studio Press News Blog #1290
You may want to consider either moving the videos off the front page, or finding a way to cache them. The homepage loaded slowly and likely will lose you visitors accustom to more responsive load times.
Anyone know of a way to create a Genesis child theme that does not scream ‘Look, I’m a Genesis Child Theme,’ but looks and feels like a Twitter Bootstrap application — both in css and js? The sandbox child theme buries Bootstrap functionality so much that it is almost nonexistent. Can anyone recommend a WordPress starter theme (i.e. uses wp custom menus rather than hardcoded html in the nav) and is 100 percent Bootstrap compliant?
Great. Thanks, Nick.
Thanks, Nick. This sounds like something beyond my skill level and will likely go on my to-do list for later. Appreciate the overview, though.
Thanks, Tracy. I’ve disabled the Hyphenator plugin. I’m unsure about the cause of the sluggishness. The site is cached.
