Awesome! Thanks so much. Really appreciate your help. Works perfectly. Buying you a coffee right now. 🙂
jamesburdenMemberBTW, I tried adding it to the plugin php file and it disabled the plugin as it had corrupted it. I also tried adding it to the functions.php file (which is where the github article seemed to imply it should go) and it results in the white screen of death. So I've rolled back to my backup, but just not sure where to place that code.
jamesburdenMemberThanks Christoph - that definitely looks like it will solve the problem. Two quick follow up questions:
1: Where do I put that code? Does it go into the plugin php file, or into functions.php? I'm not that familiar with php code so could do with a pointer on where it should be inserted.
2: Is there a way to find out for sure what the slug is of my custom post type? I presume it's 'portfolio', but would be good if I could confirm that somehow.
Thanks so much.
jamesburdenMemberHi - no need for a reply on this now - I've figured it out. Here's the solution for anyone else who might be looking for similar solutions.
An example of the css approach can be seen here: http://codepen.io/anon/pen/uvIHL
This creates a container around the text that is as wide as the main page container, and then has another div inside that container after the text. The container is relatively positioned while that second div is absolutely positioned with a top, bottom, left, and right value of 0, and given a black background with an opacity of whatever you need it to be. The inner div will fill up the outer container and will shrink and expand to fit the text.
As for the breadcrumbs, if you add to class breadcrumb a margin-top: -42px; that aligns the content with the sidebar. This approach means that if some page does not have breadcrumbs, the content and sidebar will still align.
jamesburdenMemberThat's so helpful. Thanks Noah! Much appreciated.
