I'm convinced that it can be done that way Brad - and I can do it. I'm just lazy enough to try to find an easier way if there is one. LOL
Thanks for all your comments here.

JamesDunnMemberYep, I use Post Expirator on some sites, but it doesn't work on this site because there are some items that are posted using another plugin (Postie) and it doesn't trigger whatever posting manual does so that Post Expirator will work properly.
Yeah, I'm a heap of trouble aren't I? 😉

JamesDunnMemberHey Brad.
I'm using the Custom Fields as outlined in this StudioPress article: http://my.studiopress.com/tutorials/category-blog-page/ - to create a category blog page (actually several). Since I learned this little trick, I have used it lots. But, the radio station guy wants to "expire" posts from the list after a certain period of time - time that varies based on the type of post.
I've seen this article: https://trovepromo-tf.trove-stg.com/0m1-sd/stackoverflow.com/questions/15349692/filter-posts-by-a-range-of-dates-in-the-genesis-framework-on-wordpress - but I'm not 100% certain it will work with the custom fields method. It looks like it works if you create a custom loop for each of the categories. Am I correct?
I was actually trying to NOT create those custom loops if at all possible because using the custom fields is so simple to set up that I can show someone in the radio station how to do it and even they can set them up for other pages.
Thanks in advance.

JamesDunnMemberFunny, I was looking for this same solution and stumbled upon your post. If I figure it out, I'll post back here.

I just stumbled upon this thread this afternoon - sorry I didn't see it earlier. I wanted to do this exact same thing, but my "hangover" portion had to be in the center of the header area. Visit http://wmsl.fm to see what I was trying to accomplish for the client.
Anyway, I used the information at this link to do this - had to make many modifications to what he proposed, but all in all the concept is sound. Check it out: http://journalxtra.com/websiteadvice/wordpress/themes/studiopress-genesis-theme-framework/how-to-overhang-a-wordpress-header-image-in-genesis/
Post back to let me know if it worked for you.
JamesDunnMemberThanks so much @Wpspeak.
I was looking far, far too deep to locate that. Thanks so much for finding it and letting me know what class I was not seeing.
That completely fixed the issue while maintaining the date on the blog listings.
Thanks for the help and have a great weekend.

I had seen that post as well, but that was not what I was after. I was after showing the date of the post using a calendar. I actually figured it out about six hours after I posted my question, but it was so late, I didn't come back to post here. May of the solutions I found online didn't work even though people were claiming they were "Genesis" solutions - they may have just been old. After trying about 50 various "solutions", I found one that worked perfectly. With a little CSS configureation, I got that to show up correction.
Thanks for posting back though.

JamesDunnMemberThanks @John.
That worked perfectly. I've been pulling my hair out trying to make this work and I missed that. I knew it was something simple, just didn't know what. I thought maybe my z-axis was incorrect or that the nav bar and the header were in different <div>'s so the z-axis didn't apply to them.
Thanks so much for helping here. Good to go.
