Well that was easy! Thank you so much!
To clarify for anyone else (or in case I need to refer back to this again someday!) ...

July 19, 2013 at 2:10 pm in reply to: How to get featured images to work on blog using Magazine theme #51485jodzeeeMemberI set this topic aside and now am circling back - this worked great, but now I have the featured image on pages I don't want it to show up. Is there a way to specify that it shows up only certain pages or types?
I want it on my news story pages:
http://www.uncorkeddesign.com/clients/jmwh/the-neighborhood-where-history-meets-art/But not on my listing pages (AgentPress theme):
http://www.uncorkeddesign.com/clients/jmwh/listings/1803-portland-gold-drive/Thank you.
jodzeeeMemberThank you, I didn't know about that one. Much appreciated!
jodzeeeMemberThanks, I ended up doing it a round-about way ... here's my notes:
http://www.studiopress.community/topic/adding-content-to-top-andor-bottom-of-blog-page/
I'll look at your way when I get a chance, or for the next one I do!
jodzeeeMemberThank you, I'll give it a try!
jodzeeeMemberThat's why I'm asking ... I saw in Analytics there are several still using IE7, unfortunately. I'd like to think by seeing broken design, they'd eventually upgrade so I'm tempted to blow it off ... but I also hate to see my hard work not showing up nicely in all browsers!
I was hoping there was something I could target within my existing stylesheet ... like you do for media queries for browser sizes. Is the only way to accomplish it to create a new stylesheet? And if so, do I just add my code fixes to it or do I have to duplicate the existing and adjust?
Thank you so much for your response!
jodzeeeMemberOkay, I figured it out. I had the images placed in a table and because I didn't have this:
`table { border-collapse: collapse; }`
The images were being squished. I'm not sure I understand why though. Especially since it was showing up in Chrome but not in Firefox.
jodzeeeMemberOkay, I'm feeling kind of dumb, but where/how do I add that? I've used columns within content on pages, but am unsure how to modify the footer itself.
Also ... I don't necessarily want to add anything after the footer, but rather change what's there to span 3 columns instead of 2. I'm using the Agency theme.
jodzeeeMemberI see my link didn't come through. Here it is again in case someone needs it (this plugin allows you to turn the titles on or off if you don't want it side-wide.
jodzeeeMemberI found this helpful:
jodzeeeMemberI'm also looking for a solution for hiding pages - particularly for archives. I'm using the Yoast plugin, but I think that's just to hide from search engines. I'm trying to customize my 404 error page and want it to just show the pages in my navigation. I have several other pages (landing pages, sandbox pages, pages for only users who have the link, etc.) that I don't want to show up.
Any ideas?
jodzeeeMemberThis plugin has been helpful for me. You can set the default to hide it on all pages and if you want, you can enable it on some pages.
jodzeeeMemberThis plugin might help you: http://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-pagenavi/installation/
But I haven't yet figured out how to use it!
jodzeeeMemberSee if this helps.
`#nav .current-menu-ancestor > a {
background:#353535;
color:#A98C0C;
}`jodzeeeMemberThank you! I thought I had tried that, but maybe I was using the wrong ID or class. I've got it working now.
jodzeeeMemberHow can I get rid of the more text? I don't have anything chosen for that field in the settings, but it says: "Full Story..." at the bottom of all my sliders.
jodzeeeMemberHow can I customize the resulting page? I'd like to add some text (an introduction to the blog) that appears before the posts. I'm using the Executive theme.
Thank you.
jodzeeeMemberThanks Andrea. In the meantime, I did set it up as posts and redirects and it's working well (project #1). I'm juggling a few different projects and now see that I'd already experimented with the page excerpts and HTML (project #2) and that seems to work fine too. I guess that's where I'd originally found out how to add support for page excerpts.
If only I could remember and keep straight what I do from day to day! So to answer my own question, yes I was over-thinking and confusing myself!
jodzeeeMemberHere's another plugin option I found in a similar post in this forum:
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/page-links-to/jodzeeeMemberThanks for responding, that's what I was hoping to hear. I suppose if it did break things, I could target that page or element (if I could figure that out ... my CSS skills are not as good as I wish they were - yet!). I ended up spending a bunch of time reviewing other options and I think I'm just going to use Next Gen instead ... that is, if I can use multiple instances on one page.
FWIW: It was this banner/carousel plugin: All in one banner
Thanks also for the article, I'll check it out!
