Thanks braddalton,
I ended up using the bottom left and bottom right widgets and configuring each to display a single post (and using the offset).
Thanks for your input though; it looks like another viable solution.

If you can add custom code in that space and if you don't want to add a plugin, then all you have to do is add an linked FB icon in the area.October 10, 2015 at 11:00 am in reply to: How to place social icons/inks in Primary Navigation Extras #167801korg007MemberHmmm.... The way complex did it could have been via a plugin or via the theme.
I used the Genesis plugin I told you about... to get the css really. I could have probably done without it. and for the site I worked on, it was in the menu bar.On your theme, is the Search in a widget position?
October 10, 2015 at 9:36 am in reply to: How to place social icons/inks in Primary Navigation Extras #167798korg007MemberPluzito, After you answer the previous question,
1. Did you install the Genesis Social Profiles Menu Plugin? I used this.
2. For your site, you may try: https://wordpress.org/plugins/menu-social-icons/Let me know how you make out.
GOctober 10, 2015 at 9:11 am in reply to: How to place social icons/inks in Primary Navigation Extras #167794korg007MemberSo, you mean you want the FB icon to replace the characters "FB" that are currently in your nav?
October 10, 2015 at 6:31 am in reply to: How to place social icons/inks in Primary Navigation Extras #167787korg007MemberDo you have a url to your site so I can have a look?
korg007MemberYes I am. The lifestylePro theme.
korg007MemberHi again genwrock,
I added the code at the bottom of the theme's functions.php and changed the cond statement as you suggested.
Nothing changed at all.
What am i missing?korg007MemberI'm confused. Do I simply add the first code snippets in functions.php of the theme?
Thanks,
Gkorg007MemberThanks for the quick response!
I'm coming from Joomla so bear with me.Do I change or add this code? and... is this all in functions.php of the theme?
I'm assuming there isn't a plugin so I don't have to mess with theme code which will be reset when I update the theme?
If I were to use the READMORE feature (manually in each post) instead of the using the char limit. How do I configure my installation for each post in the blog list to display the first image found in the post, as a "feature image"?
Gkorg007MemberThanks,
yes, using the Genesis blog page template (I think). It's not on the home page.here's the link:

Gkorg007MemberThis is because I'm trying to figure it out.
I need to know how to do what I described above.
Cheers,korg007MemberHello Braddalton,
I opened it up for you. Any luck?korg007MemberOK It's still in progress so I'll open it up temporarily for you.
Let me know when you've had a look and I'll put it back offline.http://www.sayingitforward.ca/my-blogif-memory-serves/
Thanks!
korg007MemberI spoke too soon.
It's still not working. My post has an image below the readmore, which appears in the post but not in the blog list which contains the post's text above the readmore. What am i missing/doing wrong?
Gkorg007MemberUPDATE:
I fixed the issue by disabling the "display feature image" in the theme's settings Content Archives.
I didn't think to look there as I didn't think my blog posts would be considered "archives".Thanks again for your assistance braddalton! Much appreciated.
korg007MemberThanks for continued help Braddalton.
I don't get it though. I want the default behaviour that you describe. From my understanding, if I add a single image in the post, the theme will grab it and display it in the blog list for the blog. AND... the blog itself will naturally display this image...Correct?If so, I shouldn't need to alter the code. correct?
I did this (without the code you provided) and I get duplicate images in the post list. The post looks great with just one image.
Sorry, I'm trying to understand but just don't.
korg007MemberThanks braddalton!
Here's what's odd. I'm trying to do as you suggest. I have an image in my post and no featured image showing in the bottom right of the post edit page.Oddly enough, when I view my post list, I see two images for this post. A small one and a large one. Almost as if it still thinks there is a featured image.
Any ideas?
August 12, 2014 at 9:01 am in reply to: LIfestyle pro – how to keep static post on home page #118392korg007MemberHi genwrock,
I tried the Genesis Grid but it doesn't support a blog style page, only archives and home page, etc.Any other ideas to get columns in my post page?
Cheers,
GAugust 11, 2014 at 1:52 pm in reply to: LIfestyle pro – how to keep static post on home page #118276korg007MemberMakes a lot of sense. Thanks.
However, what I'm after is a static home page, which I have, and a blog page which has the boxes/cols underneath.
Is this possible on a blog page? -
