lauraMemberHi Winterburn
Thank you for your suggestion. However, the problem is that I want to change the styling (css) of the Genesis Featured Post widget, not the posts that are being selected.
Do you have a suggestion for how to do that?
lauraMemberI upgraded to Genesis 2.0, but I still can't add any pages 🙁
I emailed you the details for my site.
Thank you sooooooooo much for your help!!!!
lauraMemberOK - I'll do the changes (I only made changes to child theme files), and then I'll try adding the menus again.
If I upgrade to the new version of the child theme, will I lose the changes I made? (my child theme is Magazine)
lauraMemberOK - I'll try to upgrade to Genesis - are you 100% sure it will not break my site? I have only made changes to style.css and functions.php, and I have create new landing page templates - which are php files.
lauraMemberHi Andrea
Thank you so much for responding!
Yes, I have tried several browsers, and I am logged in as an admin. I have access to Appearance > Menus, and I can do every single step of the process. But as soon as I click 'save menu', the pages I added disappear and it goes back to what it is today.
The only thing I can think of is that my admin user doesn't have editing rights (it cannot create posts or pages), so maybe that has something to do with it? If so, please let me know how to give the admin user these editing rights, so I can make the change and see if that solves the problem.
Also, I'm still on Genesis 1.9.x, so not sure whether that causes it?
Again, thank you so much for your help - I'm at a loss as to how to solve this issue!

Thank you so much for pointing me in the right direction!!! You're explanation helped me understand the principle, and I was able to style the form 🙂
I assume for you it's a piece of cake, but for me it's quite an achievement, and I couldn't have done it without your help. So thank you very much!!!
The only thing I couldn't figure out was how to display the box in which you enter your email, and the submit button on one line. I know the command is display: inline-block (I used in on the hello bar I created - http://www.momgoesonline/hello-world). But I tried it with what I saw in Firebug (af-body), as well as with a bunch of other things I could think of (like p, input, text-area), but none of them worked.
Do you have a suggestion I could try?
Thank you so much

I'll take the easy way 🙂
So I looked in Firebug - the classes I see are Aweber classes (eg af-form and things like that). Can I call these from the style.css of my theme, and style them in there?
Do you have an example of a website who has done that? If I see an example, I can look at what they did through Firebug, and try to copy it.
THank you for all your advice - I really appreciate it!

lauraMemberJust had a thought: I could create the background, and then in the mobile responsive section make the background white again... would that work?
lauraMemberHi Bill
I implemented your suggestions, and 1 and 3 worked perfectly (thank you!!!).
However I have no idea how to do 2 (add the image).
1) If I create it as a background, will it still be mobile responsive?
2) I don't think it is possible to add the image to the content, as I am using the extended eNews plugin.
Is there a way to add a picture in there and still keep the Feature Box mobile responsive?
Again, thank you so much for your help (know I know the 'width' command in css 😉 )
Laura
lauraMemberHi Bill
Thank you so much - I'll try the changes later once I have a quiet moment 🙂
PS - I know about Firebug... but I don't know css, so I have no idea what commands I need to use to get what I want - so thanks for sharing the commands 🙂

lauraMemberHey Brad!
I am using Aweber, but I was hoping to create a custom form (similar to what I have created after posts - http://www.momgoesonline.com/hello-world/).
Aweber doesn't have a form like this.
Cheers

May 14, 2013 at 5:40 pm in reply to: Help with landing page – how do I remove the empty sidebar? #40926lauraMemberHi David
I have created a test page with the standard landing page from the magazine theme - this is the width I want to achieve. So I copied the code of this landing page, but somewhere along the line an empty sidebar is not removed (or added), and I cannot find where that is happening.
Sample from theme: http://momgoesonline.com/test-landing-template/

Thank you for that - but I want to reduce the size of the landing page wrap, instead of increasing the width of the content. I thought I set it to 700px using this code, which I just copied from the original landing page.
.header-landing #content-sidebar-wrap {
width: 700px;
}The weird thing is that in the mobile responsive version, there is no blank sidebar? So could it be caused by something else?
Thank you for your help

lauraMemberHi Anitac
Our posts must have crossed. The page I am referring to is not using premise, but was being redirected to a Premise landing page as I did not realised I had to publish my non-premise page.
Laura
lauraMemberHi Anitac
My mistake - I checked to see why you wouldn't see the problem, and I think it is because the page /activate-subscription/ hadn't been published. I could see it because I was logged in, but noone else seems to have been able to. (I'm new to wordpress so just discovered this). I have now published the page.
Hope this makes it easier to see what I am talking about 🙂

lauraMemberHi Anitac - I use Safari. My mistake, it's not bullets but numbers. You can also see the issue in the last sentence (the one in parenthesis).
However, please check that the slug is /activate-subscription/ and not /activate-subscription-2/. When I go on my iPad, I somehow get redirected to the /activate-subscription-2/ page, even though I don't have any redirection setup. Not sure what's happening there? (the /activate-subscription-2/ page was created through Premise, but because it's not mobile responsive I've had to create my own landing page.
Hope that helps
