Aaron,
I am responding because I have been trying to do something like this as well, and am anxious to see what kind of response you get. Thanks for asking this. MattJanuary 25, 2014 at 11:54 am in reply to: PYT Theme – Workaround for color choices? AND Ideal Image Size? #86979mandomatMemberHi Pam,
The best way to handle that will be to have a look at your site in Firefox, hover over the color you want to change, right click and choose inspect element. That will allow you to view what the CSS styling is for that element, or any other on your page for that face. The long box on the left tells you what you are looking at, and on the right it tells you what the styling is for the element, and in fact on what line to find it in your CSS. You can make changes right there and see live how they will appear in your site. If you are able to work on the CSS with a text editor, you can just look for the line where the styling is and change it to what you dicovered in the inspector. Otherwise, you can just copy the changes from the inspector and go ahead and copy them into your CSS using the Editor under Appearance in the wordpress dashboard.Hope that helps!

You should be able to modify the colors via the css to whatever you like.600 x 600 px is a pretty good sized image. The frownies image, for instance, on your website is 654 x 825 and it appears plenty large on my desk top. Perhaps your site is set to display the thumbnail on your blog post rather than the full size image. That would not be surprising. In which case, maybe you want to make the thumbnails larger.
Hope that helps.
MattmandomatMemberThanks for the response anitac. Indeed, I went ahead and got the Sixteen-nine theme thinking, like you, that it would do the trick. The difficulty is that what appears as the sidebar on the left, is in fact, the header repositioned to occupy the left side of the page. When shrinking it down to a tablet or mobile sized page it moves to the top. What I have done, so far, is to remove the header and the navigation from the Sample theme and place the navigation into the top of the content area. That is getting me closer to what I want. Still have a fair bit of work to do, but the landing page is coming together. http://www.certainvisions.com.
Thanks,
