Thank you for this conversation. I hear you too and also find this unethical. It sounds very frustrating and I appreciate learning about this.
What alternative frameworks and themes would you recommend for new projects as it sounds like WPE is choking access to some of us who chose Lifetime account over a decade ago?
neilpParticipantThanks Victor. Can you point me to where I can learn more about the jQuery accordion distributed with WordPress?
Neil
neilpParticipantHi Brad
Yes for events and along the lines of the Modern Tribes and EventOn solutions. I look forward to hearing from you.
Thanks
NeilneilpParticipantThank you Victor. I appreciate you taking the time to share this resource. Very helpful for a beginner like me.
I'll await other responses
Cheers
NeilneilpParticipantA quick reply back to you to say: Thank you. Modern Tribe has done an incredible job. I have installed and am getting familiar.
Cheers
Neil (website)neilpParticipantI'll also add that I am not someone who is proficient with coding. I am open to learning though 🙂
Neil
neilpParticipantSounds like several top notch suggestions, Brad. Thank you.
I will visit Studiopress and look at those theme suggestions.
I need to learn more about Custom Post Types.
What tutorials would you recommend for someone like me who is at the intermediate WordPress knowledge level? As far as the Portfolio Custom Post type with Portfolio style archives pages suggestion, where can I find and learn more about that solution? Is that a Studiopress product? If not, whose?
And finally, I will check out that plugin too.
Thank you
NeilneilpParticipantThanks Andrea... I will take a closer look at and show him your Dagmar theme suggestion. Other than replacing the theme, what tools/plugins would you use to list, catalog and display either YouTube or self-hosted audio and video files?
I, we, appreciate your suggestions!
Thank you
NeilneilpParticipantsorry forgot to share what I am wanting to improve. this is the page - http://twopointoakland.com/steering-committee/ - which I have inherited and which i would like to make more elegant and tidy, and easier to manage.
neilpParticipantThanks Brad - I appreciate your engagement here.
1) I understand what you are saying about user profiles and this is not that situation
2) I will look into getting a custom coded template. In the meantime is Studiopress equipped, out of the box, with tools to create templates with widget areas for a page? I would like to learn about templates and how to make them! Can you point me to a tutorial for that? I have not found one on this site.
They are currently twelve steering committee (I mis-spoke earlier, they are not board members!) members with 3-5 coming on board in the new year. I have created a page with two graphics showing the clean look I am interested in creating on a new page. How are those built/created?
Here is the link for you and others to look at http://twopointoakland.com/draft
Cheers
NeilneilpParticipantOh gosh, that what prompt! Thanks.
The Genesis user profile does which part of what I said?
What I am asking for is not for users, as in admin people, it is to create a page to display board member bios on a regular page. I may not have used the right language above. Sorry about that. Also, if this it the correct tool for the job, since it is a widget, how do I make the contents I put in it in the body of the page rather that the sidebar?
Thanks again
