you'll need to add the widgets to the home page by creating a function and using the conditional is_home().
more info can be found here: Greg Rickaby Code Snippets. search that page for Create a custom homepage using home.php and you can also follow the link that's right there where he goes more in depth in creating the custom page.
January 23, 2013 at 2:39 am in reply to: Genesis Featured Widget Amplified date issue: URGENT #14011OzzyMemberi'm sure Nick will be updating the plugin soon, i doubt he's noticed this error.
i've been able to fix the error by doing the following (you'll be editing the actual plugin files which is a NO-NO, but if you're up against the wall with a client, not much else you can do (i've been there):
go into the plugin directory (should be genesis-featured-widget-amplified)
open the widget.php file
go down to about line 1122 and finddo_shortcode( esc_html__( $instance['post_info'] ) ) );
and replace with
do_shortcode( $instance['post_info'] ) );
i know it's only a temporary fix, but it should get your customer's site back up for now.
OzzyMemberit's a sample child theme. it gives you a starting point if you'd like to develop your own custom child theme for Genesis.
OzzyMemberit took a little getting used to, but overall, i like it much better than the old style sheet.
what kinds of problems are you having?
OzzyMemberthis article should point you in the right direction! http://genesistutorials.com/how-to-filter-the-post-navigation/
OzzyMemberOzzyMember@cdils i found a joomla to wordpress plugin that works pretty well... but yeah, it probably would have been very painful!
OzzyMemberthanks for bringing that to my attention! i'll see about fixing that.
OzzyMemberThanks, Carrie!
yes, ma'am... they didn't want to move all 800 pages of their old Joomla site to the new site, but wanted to keep it available.
January 16, 2013 at 1:45 pm in reply to: Need to change font color in Genesis slider in Amped Child Theme #12381OzzyMemberthis should do it:
.slide-excerpt-border > p { color: #000; }
change the color to whatever you'd like it to be.
OzzyMemberyou'd want to not do the #inner as #1a1a1a because that's where your blue image is 🙂
OzzyMemberOzzyMembersure... instead of the background-color: #1a1a1a; you see add:
background-color: transparent;
January 4, 2013 at 5:06 am in reply to: NEWS theme flux not displaying in middle bottom widget #9454OzzyMemberthere are some plugins you can use to keep the site hidden but you can add a link and give it out for times like these. i don't know if the free version of http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/ultimate-coming-soon-page/ allows you to do it, but i know the pro version does.
OzzyMemberyes indeedy, feed the needy!
WordPress likes to keep that tag a secret... 😉 (jk)
OzzyMemberOzzyMemberif you didn't touch the home.php, then you may have added one too many closing divs when you followed the instructions from the old forum.
in any case, a genius i am not, but glad i could help!
OzzyMemberit's not the CSS so much as it's the amount of closing divs you have on the home page. this is probably due to the widget areas you added.
if you look at the inner page, the footer-widgets and footer are inside of the #wrap, but it's not like that on the home page. look at your functions.php and home.php file and see if you added one too many somewhere.
OzzyMemberit looks like you're div's aren't closed so everything is wrapped in the #headlinead div.
i'd be able help more if that was closed. maybe someone can give you the css without doing that.
