Okay, I fixed the archives thing and I tried installing the Genesis Featured Widget Amplified and it did weird things to my homepage. Currently, with the featured post widget, I have 10 blog posts showing in the Home - Bottom widget. When I turned on the Genesis Featured Widget Amplified, it switched it to just 2 blog posts and in my Below Content area, everything got screwy...it was showing the same featured image in all 4 categories and altered the text that is overlayed on those images.
I turned it back off, cleared my cache and everything went back to normal. I thought maybe it was bc I hadn't updated to the latest Genesis version. So I updated that, turned the Genesis Featured Widget Amplified back on, cleared my cache and still same result. Is this normally this buggy?
I'm wondering if it was because I told it to do the pagination thing?? But then why mess with the Below Content area?skichic95MemberOkay, who can I hire to do this? Any recommendations?
I tested this link: http://www.pinkheelspinktruck.com/blog/page/2/
but it's full posts, not archived snippets. :/
The last time I attempted to adjust my code, I crashed my site.skichic95MemberWhat do you mean to all of your blog archives?
Is there not a way to get to page 2, page 3, page 4 of the archives? Each showing 10 posts at a time?
Do I need to switch to the Fun theme from Pretty Darn Cute, to get this functionality?skichic95MemberOkay...removed the padding from the top but adjusted the top padding to 20px for the .site-header .wrap. I think this will just work. Thanks for all of your help.
skichic95Member**I take back the hidden part (site header) on the design.pinkheelspinktruck.com site. I hadn't gotten to hiding it over there. I did that part once I made my new site live on bossgirlcreative.com which is what caused some people to not see some of my graphic.
Obviously it looks like I'm not going to be able to do this the way I want to do it, so I'll just mirror what I made happen over on the design site.
skichic95MemberI was never using the Site Header to begin with because of where it was set to display and the size it was going to display. That is why I used the daisy area shown in the theme demo (which you see in the design.pinkheelspinktruck.com). The site header is hidden on that site. When I had other people look at it, it was chopping off the top portion of that space after I hid the site header.
I was trying to use the existing features of the theme without having to make any drastic changes to the actual site header...which again, I hid because it was just extra white space appearing above my "header" graphic.skichic95MemberYes
skichic95MemberWhen I originally posted for help, Christoph was able to answer my questions. I had paid someone to design a site for me and although I requested it built on Genesis framework, it was not done that way. So when I wanted changes made, I had no clue where to make those changes. I decided to redo my entire website but design it offline (design.pinkheelspinktruck website). I got it working and looking the way I wanted it to and my kinks worked out. Or so I thought. I copied my style sheet and installed Genesis and the child theme and added in my style sheet to my actual website. All was good. I tipped Christoph for his help and closed my question. Until a friend told me the header was chopped off. That's when I reopened it and started asking for help again.
Apologies for not stating that I had already transferred everything over and was now working on my live site which is bossgirlcreative.comskichic95MemberRight now, this is what I'm seeing on my site
skichic95MemberI don't have one on this site.
skichic95MemberOkay, it's back to normal, including changing the header back to 320x120. I've removed the image and I don't have an active image in that other portion either.
skichic95MemberI think you just spoke greek to me. I'd like to be able to have a header that fits full width responsively to someone's device. I originally made that happen with that pretty daisy portion of the theme demo and I hid the site header. But it wasn't coming up right across different computers/browsers. It was being chopped off from the top.
I'd like to know what steps I need to take to achieve that. I understand the splitting the text from the background part, but truly you lost me after that.
skichic95MemberNo worries about jumping in.
My theme has 2 areas...the standard placing for a header image (originally sized at like 300x120px I believe) and sits in the upper left-corner and then it has this custom background area...you can see the full demo here: http://my.studiopress.com/themes/beautiful/#demo-full
Where the text is in the header section: "Beautiful Pro" is where I have my current logo inserted, I just don't have the Primary Nav bar turned on, so it's centering it. I also already adjusted the dimensions of my photo in the functions.php file to reflect the actual size of the graphic itself. Although nothing happened when I made the adjustment.
The beauty background (the daisys) was where I had my header graphic previously, but I didn't want to have to figure out how to make it clickable and plus on different browsers, the top of the graphic kept getting cut off. And I was using the code Christoph had given me to hide the site header. On my end it was showing fine, but on a different computer and a different browser it wasn't working.
So I scrapped the idea of adding it in that beauty area. And I've got it blank now.
My goal is to make my image full width. That was why Christoph had given me the background-size: cover !important; code to make it do that (in the previous beauty space).
So now, I'd like to know how to make my header full width as seen on this website: http://www.lovebeingboss.com/
Any help in making that happen would be appreciated!
skichic95MemberOkay, I switched the positioning to make it in the header area. I updated the height/width in the functions.php file to the dimensions of my graphic, but it's still making it default to something. Any clue where I fix it?
skichic95MemberThank you so much for all of your help!!
skichic95MemberThe theme has a spot for a header image being like 300x100 (sits to the left, above the custom background image). I don't want to use the spot where the header is (you see that white space above the Boss Girl Creative area...that's the header space and the primary nav bar space). I'd like to hide that too if possible. What I've tried hasn't worked yet. Any thoughts?
I'm using the custom background image as my header. I tried your second code (adding the !important portion) and it worked! So thanks for that!
Also, is there a way to link it to the home page (the Boss Girl Creative image)?
skichic95MemberI just realized you were talking about Simple Edits and I was talking about Simple Hooks. I tried adding Simple Edits plugin and it's telling me I'm not using the right Genesis version. I have no idea how I'm not using the right Genesis version. My version is showing to be up to date. Again, I tried adding the code in myself into my functions.php file and it crashed my site the last time I tried it. I don't know what you would do any differently and I can't afford for my site to crash again.
skichic95MemberIt doesn't exist in my Simple Hooks. I double checked in my Screen Options to see if everything was selected and it was. I used the find function and nothing. I even doubled checked to see if I was running an updated version. the genesis_entry_footer hook does not exist on my end.
skichic95MemberI don't have the genesis_entry_footer section in my Simple Hooks. Also, do you click the box, execute PHP on this to get it to work, if I place the code in another hook? So far I cannot get it to work with either way. And I'm inserting it after the comments hook: genesis_after_comments
skichic95MemberI don't want to make another change in my functions.php file and risk crashing it again. There should've been no reason that it crashed the first time, but I can't afford to be down for another day. Can I place this into a simple hook and execute php on it?
