Thanks for that. I was trying to make the css changes to the widget area and not the individual Pages.  For now I have moved some pages to posts which is a bit lazy, but will do until I can work. M around the CSS.

Thanks for that link.  I think this whole pagespeed thing is a bit of a minefield,  I am lucky enough to have a quick switch on of cloudflare via my host,  and it does appear to load quicker now, but not every time.

Hi,  did you ever get an answer to this ?   I’m starting to review my sites performance. GooglePageSpeed has always given it a high score, but when I use webpagetest.org the performance is lacking;

 

First Byte Time (back-end processing): 37/100
786 ms First Byte Time
162 ms Target First Byte Time
The problem seems to be around a 301 redirect to my theme ?   Or maybe I’m interpreting it incorrectly.

Those featured areas are not liking being empty so I’ll have to fill area 3 with something to keep area in place.  I have an idea for that.

Susan,  thanks for the feedback.  I’ll try what you suggested re the hover color. I’m  trying to play with the tag line area and that button, I’d like to wrap the text within its own area leaving the button on its own to the right, but that’s probably going to need a template change.

 

Getting the logo was a great experience, I had dozens and dozens of designs to choose from, and good service from the support guys.

Thanks for the response.  Your are right, I’ve made a few changes and the speed increased naturally, it wasn’t slow but is now very quick.

For anyone reading plugins,  w3 total cache and smush.it both seemed to have helped.

I’ve added it to my signature instead.

We are going through a patch of design changes, so its not looking perfect right now. Ideally we would do this on a test site, but as the site is so new and no one really finds there way their just yet I thought id just let it progress naturally.
