Hey thanks for the replies. I had to take a break because I was pulling my hair out trying to figure things out. Sometimes It's better to walk away and come back when you can relax and focus again. I thought the one page turorial shown next to the link where you download the child theme was all that was available for info - but now see that there's a tutorial that shows peole how to add the demo sites content and then modify if the basic layout is why you wanted the theme to start with.
For some new with this - it's tough to wrap you head around needing to upload the WP 3.5, then Genesis, then the child theme - and how changing things relate - so when they started talking about modifying php and widgets - you're lost.
Thanks again.

I filtered to remove those not made by SP to reduce the chance of needing support or having issues and didn't want them to say - "go ask the theme developer" . When I said this is all new to me - it's not an exageration. I'm looking for the most versitile for a larger number of domain development ideas because I literally have over 100 domains with keywords involving insurace, games, weight loss, banking, mortgage, etc - and leaving them parked at godaddy so you get 80% of nothing since they use google and google doesn't like to display parked pages in search because there's no helpful content - so it's like swimming against the current. I'd lust like to redirect them all to a shared hosting at bluehost - add a few pages of unique informative content to each and at least have a chance they'd make something while working on a couple that I'd like to develop full scale.
When I look at answers to customizing themes here - the code looks like egyptian cuniform to me and the more I read the more I realise I don't know about designing sites - but thats why WP appeals to me because it's supposed to be seo made and formatted to just add content.

I considered metro but it seems like there are a lot of questions about features not working or maybe it's a little more difficult to use. I'm in the food biz and know little about website design/development - even the page I had for my business it a static page someone else set up years ago that's never been updated.
spamubackMemberWhat propasal is not considered? Have you considered just designing sites for yourself and monetize and include links to your portfolio with services offered and rates? You could build out and sell them on flippa - etc. while getting more exposure to your design capabilities. With your experience in armed services, religious, health care, and finace - these are all very profitable niches.
