Thanks for your response, Victor. It has prompted me to ask more questions. I am using the Genesis Framework, which is updated and HTML5, but the child theme is still 1.8. Is this child theme XHTML? Might there be an incompatibility issue between the two? I never did like the way the updated child theme looked, so I kept the old 1.8 version. Is this a bad habit in terms of security or other?

It is identical to the other blogs that all have the correct footer arrangement. So, if it were just a </div> in the wrong place in the html, do you know what file that would be that I could change that in?
