Thanks for checking Anitac…the CodeStyling Localization plugin looks a little complicated.
Configure the home-middle-left widget if you want the post or posts to appear in that widget location. If you want the post positioned elsewhere use that specific widget.
Go to your middle right widget, then select your page name from the drop down box beside the label “Page:” For example if your page is named “sample page” select it from the drop down.
Let me know if you still get stuck.
Please clarify what you mean by “place that category at the top with 2 as the default” and “use the Technology widget below the slider – you would offset it by “1″ so that the new story shows in the slider”
Thanks Anitac…ideally I’d like to have a featured news story or 2 at the top and other category posts (ie technology, sports) below them (somewhat similar to the news theme. If I post a new tech story I don’t want it to appear at the top because it’s mainly for techies. On the current home page all posts appear at the top.
Thanks a lot..here’s a follow up question for a news site..
Would you recommend using pages for different topics ie technology, sports ,etc then use the blog (posts) for latest news (ie featured news)?
The reason I ask is that I currently have the menu set-up using post categories which means every new post from whatever category appears on the page.
Thanks Susan..that was a very useful reference…resolved
Oh..thanks for letting me know.
What’s the alternative solution?September 16, 2013 at 7:29 am in reply to: Create background image that adjusts to different screen resolutions? #62811
Thanks a lot ramseyp and nunotmp. I decided to go with nunotmp css code. Please check if the image displays correctly in your browser.
Here’s my follow-up question:
Should I decrease the size of the image or align the monument and church differently on the blue background?
How do I create a background image for Outreach that adjusts to different resolutions? My current bg image width is 1920 pixels however it doesn’t display correctly on other desktop resolutions when checking in screenfly.com. It does seems to be mobile responsive.
Resolved..instead of opening functions.php (which it says not to edit) you edit the css and functions within the admin panel under “custom code”. This wasn’t obvious in the instructions included in the theme.
Thanks..I’m a little confused which file to edit because the functions.php says “WARNING: DO NOT edit this file under any circumstances”
Thanks a lot Brad..how would I include an RSS feed of latest news from the site in the marquee?
Just add it manually or could it be updated automatically as the news changes?
