I was about to try that, but I needed two header widgets, so this will do the trick. Now I just need to add some CSS and move my title area. Thanks; I liked your FB page!
zmelMemberHeader left widget! Brad, thanks so much for the code! I was looking for this for days.
August 15, 2013 at 1:58 am in reply to: Title not supposed to be showing after Genesis upgrade #56478zmelMemberI added a text indent to the #title:
text-indent:-9999px;
...and set the background of #header to none and that seems to have done the trick.
I am looking forward to reading your blog post, Brad.zmelMemberSuccess. Turns out, by changing the Gravatar's Rating to G from PG made them show up within the hour. Bother. Thank you for the suggestion!
zmelMemberThat is an interesting theory. I checked the database and the user_ids are all different and unique, and are also reflected correctly in the wp_usermeta. I guess I will have to send an inquiry to gravatar; it has been five days.
zmelMemberTHANK YOU. I deleted the streamline files from my hosting co. server, then downloaded streamline from the site and uploaded those files; activated and the home page widgets are there. Much appreciated!
zmelMemberThat works for me! Thanks!
zmelMemberThanks! That's a start, but how do I get it to show just 3, like in the demo? I have chosen, "number of posts to show: 3" in theme settings/blog page template, but it continues to show 10. Much appreciated.
May 21, 2013 at 12:23 am in reply to: CSS tweak needed for image in custom menu header widget #41979zmelMemberThe only way I could resolve this was to just make a fast text widget using html tables. Works, but wish the custom menu option had!
zmelMemberThe 260px margin-left keeps the second custom nav (FAQs, etc) from popping up; I tried the 108 px, and less and more with no change. Removing the word-spacing does make the first logo show a fraction more. I also removed the background positioning in the original tutorial code with no change.
Any other suggestions for me to try? This is baffling!
May 18, 2013 at 11:04 am in reply to: CSS tweak needed for image in custom menu header widget #41514zmelMemberThank you for your reply. Two images in this particular custom nav; there is text behind each one in the custom menu ("CITY" and "W".) No matter what I do to the code, I can't seem to show all the image. Here is the CSS with the tutorial code back in:
#nav_menu-7 { float: left; margin-left:260px; word-spacing:45px; height:60px; } #nav_menu-7 .menu-bg1 a, #nav_menu-7 .menu-bg1 a:hover, #nav_menu-7 .menu-bg1 a:focus, #nav_menu-7 .menu-bg2 a, #nav_menu-7 .menu-bg2 a:hover, #nav_menu-7 .menu-bg2 a:focus, { background-repeat:no-repeat; background-position:0.5em 0.5em; color:#555; padding:10px 0 0 60px; width:193px; } #nav_menu-7 .menu-bg1 a, #nav_menu-7 .menu-bg1 a:hover, #nav_menu-7 .menu-bg1 a:focus { background-image:url(images/city-logo.png); } #nav_menu-7 .menu-bg2 a, #nav_menu-7 .menu-bg2 a:hover, #nav_menu-7 .menu-bg2 a:focus { background-image:url(images/watersense_logo.png); }
I want to attach a screen shot, but don't see a place to do that on this thread.
Do I not have enough width, too much padding? There is another custom menu widget below this one which makes it difficult to isolate. Very much appreciate the help!
zmelMemberI see it now in Firebug, thanks, again!
zmelMemberWow, that did it. How did you know to set #nav_menu-6? I did not see a menu item for that div, only menu-global-nav-container, which I could see in Firebug, but not in any of my site files. I also have more than one #header .widget-area for some reason. The top padding is good at 120. Really appreciate it, Colson!
zmelMemberWell, it took a bit, but I found that the home page widgets use h2 tags, and the pages use h1 for the title, so I isolated the h2 tag in the css from the h1 and in this way am able to have the widget titles (h2) at 24px and the page titles (h1) bigger at 34px. Using code in CSS under "Headlines."
zmelMemberYes, and put some spacing between the words.
zmelMemberThanks, Dave. I decided to put the "excerpt" on the page itself at the beginning, that way the widget pulls it first. Formatting the text in italics with a rule underneath, gives it a feeling of an introductory paragraph. A quick workaround!
zmelMemberThanks, Dave, I mean "excerpt", in other words, not the first bit of the page content, but a chosen bit of text, the way the post offers to show excerpt or content in the widget.
Would this need a custom area on the page itself? I appreciate all help on this!
April 10, 2013 at 5:35 pm in reply to: Can I create a Home Widget that sits underneath the logo on home page only? #34651zmelMemberWith the theme I am using, it looks like I can keep the html for the fish widget in the appearances/widget home box without having to change the functions.php; it only shows on home page. But I will keep your info for any future use. Thanks!
April 10, 2013 at 9:44 am in reply to: Can I create a Home Widget that sits underneath the logo on home page only? #34548zmelMemberThank you, Vajrasar! That worked great. I added some margin-left and it put it just where I want.
You made my day :0)
zmelMember@anitac: Yes: the Kitchen Sink was missing and the visual editor was not functioning for two Genesis themes. It was previously working on a 2011 default theme under the original domain. @braddalton: I will look into Wordfence.
Thanks, this is resolved.
